I will bring money to register and plan to support TLCA and 'staff and members' equally and 100% - please have no doubt. I also plan to lend a helping hand as long as I am there. I am a team player and that's how I like it. I look forward to seeing everyone there. If I have to, I will ride in on my mountain bike to make it - and still bring ice : )

BTW - Can I donate some hungarian booze for the raffle - have a few bottles of grandpas old cough syrup sitting in the pantry?

If he had been asked to leave he would have been traveling the same trail at the same time. I do see how the registration rule supports the event but I do not see that it had anything to do with Josh's roll.

I would like to say that registered or not the cruiser community saved his life.
John-Unfortunately, I am very familiar with what happened on Cadillac Hill last year, and I disagree with your conclusion. If Josh had known he had to register and needed to be accountable for his behavior at Rubithon, it is likely the accident would not have happened. Either that, or the extra fee would have deterred him from going in the first place. Not to mention, if he had gone, he would then have been part of the "exit strategy" and less likely to have his accident.

Clearly this is a sport with inherent dangers, and injuries can and do happen every year. Let's hope this year keeps the accidents/injuries to a minimum.

I do admitt and stress that being registered and on a scheduled run does highten your awareness and provide you a constant level of reminding by the fella's in your group to be safe. It is that exact feeling that gets our groups in safe and with outstanding enjoyment.

The second part is very true, and the sprit of help, cooperation, shared adventure and fun is what makes this a great event.

Looking forward to it, and a safe run for all.

Leaving Saturday. Tick, tick, tick....

the trail is very unforgiving - I have a harness and kept me from being hurt, but on a very "boring" section of the trail I was suddenly rolling because I was taking the trail for granted. Fortunately, we lost only a bottle of whatever (cleaned it up of course) but if we were not wearing our harness or if we had no exoskeleton, it could have been much worse. We were already eye shot of loon lake just descending on the granite. I dont like seatbelts on the trail, but on the rubicon it is more important than anywhere else to buckle up and triple check your line. Physics and basic geometry can be a painful lesson out there

John,

If Josh would have been on one of the organized runs, his rig would not have passed tech inspection. Let's start there.

I agree with Andy, being part of the event, understanding the rules, makes people more aware and accountable for their actions.

Regards

Alvaro

PS: I start loading up the rig tonight

I saw his rig, no lockers. Isn't that one of the requirements?

Look, bottom line... no one wants to see what happened to Josh ... happen again.
Me for one.. dont want to see anyone cheat the system... I mean I paid, why not the next guy? ... do people that dont register for an event like this THINK they are special?
This is not a knock on John or Josh... (I know neither of them...) But John why are sticking up for Josh when he was in the WRONG!. if he's your friend cool... but he was WRONG for going alone without another truck, Wrong, for not wearing a seatbelt!
Wrong, for not registering! AND as I heard(and if I am wrong, please forgive me)
WRONG fro DRINKING ON THE TRAIL!
Now stop the bickering and get your ass's to the trail!
I leave in the morning!
Dave

No I do not, but I helped somebody find a transfer case in Tahome which then turned out to be the wrong one for a 55 within 2hours turn around time. I met a lady at the tahoma market who said her ex left some 4WD parts in her back yard and she will let me take all of it for 30 dollars. I did not make it to the actual event, I just caught the exit and saw them broken down by the staging. I had my sticker covered 80 out there last year just snooping around. I am always ready to help though. Its part of the enjoment for me is to help people enjoy the trail and give them support if needed.

Cheers!

may be the most fun I ever had at any tlca event, came in friday with mr. marlin and got to the springs around night fall, the maurader bar was awesome, spent saturday playing in the water, recovering from driving, and I even won some potpurri and wine at the raffle, on sunday we met the germans who told me they thought I was just a drunken poser too much fun - and thank for the air woody!

Hey Guys,

My buddies and I were up there (not officially with the Rubithon). I drove a silver FJ Cruiser(which came out just fine), a 68(?) blue Bronco, and a CJ5 Jeep. We had a great time and met a few people that were with the Rubithon. We were suppose to be in the Rubithon but my buddy with the Bronco couldn't get his FJ ready in time. It was an awesome time.
