Tellico in Petersons 4wd

just saw in the new Petersons 4 wheel mag that there is a big meeting to discuss Tellico in Murphy on the 28th of June. I hadnt seen any posts about it so I thought I would throw it up here. It says theres info on Pirate 4x4, I havent looked yet but it also gives the Project Coordinator name which is probably a household curse word these days. Her name is Candyce Wyman and her number is 828.837.5152 ext 113. This is all per the little article...

Man it would be great to get the locals to really get fired up about it around there too...

Can you check that date? We (SFWDA) have no notice of that meeting and we'd be the first ones they contact. There was a meeting LAST YEAR on the 28th. Could that be a mistake?

Hey,
I just pull out the mag and it says "There will be a meeting to discuss the closure and alternative plans on Saturday June 28th in Murphy NC."

I guess Candace Wyman needs to get a call to see if thats a real date.

Its the AUgust 2009 issue page 20, i just got it yesterday.

It was last year. Would be nice if they would have another meeting. I think they owe us the ability to answer questions one on one. And give us a little more than a month to plan for it.

The date and meeting you are refering to was sent along with the notice to close Tellico. I originally thought they were having a meeting on the 28th also only to realize it was from 2008. Just goes to show they don't have their act together and threw the closure together at the last moment.

Is there somewhere in Murphy or somehow to have a large organized meeting and try to get local folks out there and get a good showing from the 4wd community to meet and discuss? Forestry service could be invited and we could try to put together petitions and get the local folks a little fired up. My guess is most of them just think its the economy that is keeping business away.
