Is David's shop still a member business? In case you don't get to chat, it would appear as though many of us are owed money, or have beefs with his business. I've also traded messages where he was a contributor to raffles giving away TLCA memberships and he never paid for them.
What's up with this? Is someone from the TLCA going to look into it? Is he a GA version of mushro? |

Unpaid Memberships
It would seem that there are going to be a few folks, myself included, that have won TLCA memberships via raffles, drawings and contests on Mud, Pirate and various events, given by ULC.
I personally won't ask Dave to honor the renewal for my daugter's membership and hope he is able to get through his troubles without loosing everything he has built. However there may be many people left wondering why they are not getting their subscriptions and membership cards and the like. As this may taint some members and potential members views of TLCA because they don't know what is happening, is there a reasonable solution to this situation? We had a huge push last year for 4000 members and would hate to see the ground we gained lost to this situation. I know the dues aren't that much money for the individuals, especially for the benefits of membership! Especially "Trails"!!! Is there anyway that TLCA could contact Dave and try to find out who these folks are? Could we then work with local chapters or individuals within the TLCA to get these folks signed up and paid for and receiving their magazine and membership info? Maybe start the memberships in January, but include some back issues of Trails for the PITA? I don't know, just throughing out ideas to keep the memberships up. There may not be that many folks out there either, we just don't know. I'm not trying to "cover" for Dave, but would help him any way I can. Just trying to do what's right for the membership here. I would like to start the ball rolling with picking up my daughter's renewal and one other that was won at an event raffle or whatever. I firmly believe that once these folks start getting Trails and get involved with TLCA they will stay, at least most of them. According to http://forum.ih8mud.com/chit-chat-section/44077-tlca-raffle-winners.html, the winners were Noah, Junk, and Garth...
Chef, looks like it's $25 for an individual membership, I'll have a check in todays mail to TLCA cover that. The three winners need to fill out a TLCA membership form, mail/fax it into TLCA, and make a VERY clear note that they were the winners from the drawing and to reference their 'MUD username. I'll also include a note with the check so Membership doesn't get all confused. __________________ Brian 'woody' Swearingen 1974 FJ40 'The Raisin' - Pitbull Rockers, 30-spline Longfields, SOA - 1/4 ellip 1996 FZJ80 'Gretchen' - MetalTech, ARB, OME, IPOR, 4x4Labs 2003 2500HD Duramax - Edge/Juice/Attitude, 285 Nitto Terra Grapplers, 4" exhaust |

Mike,
if we can find out who the "lost" members are... i'l be glad to talk with the TLCA Directors and see what can be done. but, except for what woody did (thanks woody!)... we dodn't know who they are. matbe someone could check the threads on pirate and get the names there. Mike, I'll be at the TAC meetingg this weekend. We can run it by Erik, who can talk to Chef about it... maybe we cabn get something done. thanks! __________________ Casey Campbell '64 FJ40, '96 FZJ80 Light travels faster than sound. Sounds good Casey. I started a thread in chat lookng for lost memberships and will get one going on Pirate too. I know several were given away at Roundup and Ramble. I'm sure Dave had some at GSMTR and ICBM too.

The check is in the mail (no really....seriously....no, I'm NOT kidding!! Check # 1004....and yes, I JUST got my own....be afraid....)
Noah, I wrote on my cover letter what your TLCA# was....Junk and Garth, you'll either need to email the membership office with your TLCA # so it can be extended OR fill out and fax/mail in a membership application....make sure you write "Urban LC / IH8MUD drawing" something similar (and nice....Junk... ) so they'll know where the funds magically appear from.Mailing addy is : TLCA - PO Box 230 - Verona, KY 41092 click the Membership text link at the top to locate a pdf of the form. __________________ Brian 'woody' Swearingen 1974 FJ40 'The Raisin' - Pitbull Rockers, 30-spline Longfields, SOA - 1/4 ellip 1996 FZJ80 'Gretchen' - MetalTech, ARB, OME, IPOR, 4x4Labs 2003 2500HD Duramax - Edge/Juice/Attitude, 285 Nitto Terra Grapplers, 4" exhaust |

Most everything that was said in this thread is true. I will not make excuses but please believe me when I say I am trying to fix this.
The bitter truth is that I got in way over my head in taking on business and trying to run a shop. TLCA had swamped me after I started advertising in TT. I managed to keep up with most everything for about 2 years then the bottom dropped out. I could not manage the scale of business that I had. Right about then my wife decided that pastures were greener without me so she sent me packing. The divorce issues are massive as are the associated financial issues. My personal issues have become business issues. The membership failures are inexcusable. I only was contacted by 4-5 people who recieved raffled memberships at TLCA events. I thougt all that contacted me were sent in. Looks like I thought wrong. Woody, thanx for the MUD stuff. I still have some membership from customers here at the shop. If the people that won memberships will contact me I will get that squared away ASAP. The springs from CMCC are on hold; the guy that won them does not need them right now. The GSMTR and ICBM springs were delivered. Mike, thanx for your kind and sensitive voice mail the other day. I deserve it. I dont have the doors, I never got a chance to pick them up. I got your e mail today and will reply tonight. I was not trying to hide and the Mushro comment; that hurt. Kurt, I am jumping through hoops to fix things with you. I will e mail you tomorow with details. Alan and Chris, I mailed both of you within the past 2 days and hope to get things worked out soon with TLCA. I am almost current with most of the projects in the shop. I am way off schedule but all are being worked on. I have failed to be in touch with some customers and am activly trying to fix that. We will not go out of business if I can help it and all projects will be done and done correctly. My reputation is all I have and it is taking a beating right now. I will do everything possible to regain what once was a good rep. Many of us know each ther personally and I appreciate the support that I have recieved from some of you. Those that are angry or feel slighted are generally correct. All I can ask is to be allowed a chance to fix the issues. __________________ David Dearborn www.urbanlandcruisers.com Foreign Minister for life of the White Trash of the Elwood Chapter. Although I am not out of money or have any involvement in Davids problems, I can surely sympathize with his position.
Mine although different in many ways, is still a struggling cruiser shop that is side stepping the biz for awhile. I will continue to work on smaller projects and clean up my current projects. 7 years has taken its tole on my relationship with my wife and kids. In the end remorgaging is what it took to keep our head above water, not something I ever wanted to do but had too. Good luck David. __________________ Come and visit us in Duncan, BC www.raddcruisers.ca --> 60 Series Cable Lockers available - 4.11s or 3.70s - handles and cables included --> 12HT & H55F combos available - complete & running --> in stock and ready to go. |

Roger - Thanks for the info.
David - Good to hear from you!!!! Don't worry about the membership stuff. If you had five contacts we have five renewals taken care of! If you have some others I'll be glad to care of them! But that's your call. As I said before, I'll help in any way I can! I'd rather see ya focus on your business and get'n it squared away with Junk and Kurt. Like Todd said .... campfire anytime man! __________________ 'A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have.' ~ Thomas Jefferson And yes, I'm one of those "rural American's" that clings to his guns and his religion

Hope you are well, David. Welcome back.
When you get done at Todd's fire give the CLC a visit anytime. I'd like to see a list of what ULC donated to TLCA events last year. Odds are pretty good that no other single business supported TLCA like ULC did. BTW David, While you were gone I sliped into TWTOEC! __________________ Greg Thompson 00 Camry: Stock 5SFE - 27 MPG 89 FJ62: OME 2.5", 2" R.B. Yeah, my voicemails are the only thing worse than having to read my posts I suppose. A man will always be judged as to how he reacts when things are worst. The fact that you are letting us know what is going on is all that we can ask for right now and I greatly appreciate it. You have a lot of folks pulling for you. Please remember that if you don't ask for help then there is nothing we can do, but it's a true friend that is there for you when you really need them. Hang in there man and please do not be shy to ask for help if you need it. |
