Great to hear from you David!
Life sucks sometimes and I'm glad you got up and decided to try again. Let me know if you need my help and... mi casa, su casa. BTW, this message was delayed 'cause I just had to stare at Hatfield's new avitar. ;-) Happy Trails! Hey David, glad you stepped in. Just in time, it was getting nasty. If you need anything, call me. Hope everything works out for you and the shop.

David
I have avoided commenting on any of the other threads you have been mentioned in because I didn't feel it worth commenting on the situation without having heard from you. Yes I was worried like everyone else, but I knew that calling you on the phone, or taking time to PM back and forth would just be one more drain on one of your most valuable commodities right now: time. In a way I have been glad to hear about how little communication you've had, because it's helped to keep an image in my head of someone who's keeping their nose to the grindstone, getting stuff done. YOU KNOW that I know as a fellow businessman how easy it is to let the day get away from you talking with customers and even the most well-intentioned friends. Most of my board postings and e-mails don't start til after 10pm anymore, as I am staying later and later in the shop myself to make up for time 'lost' during the day on the phone with current and potential customers. I don't know what the right balance is David, or I would gladly tell you. You've obviously avoided the pitfall of taking on new customers if you've sworn off the phone and the boards for now. I hope EVERYONE can take your contact here as SUFFICIENT to show good faith on your part without having their individual hands held, and give you some more time to keep on truckin and get caught up. I know I speak for many when I say that we'd like to see you back at the Roundup again, your usual ornery self, with or without raffle prizes! Respectfully, Mark

David,
Cheers to you for jumping in here and taking your medicine. I have started four companies since 1991 and they all have involved plenty of ass-whippings and crow-eating. My motto..."If it were easy, everyone would be doing it." Hang in there. NO ONE can grasp what Owning/Operating a business really entails until they have tried it themselves. If it were easy, there would be a shop on every corner profitting a zillion bucks.
My ol lady packed up and left me about 4 years ago... damned near killed me and my businesss. I now realize she did me a huge favor. I always try to keep communication lines open and take things "1 day @ a time" |

It's Round Up time and he IS the Foreign Minister of the White Trash of the Elwood chapter. He might be in TX right now. Give him till next week before you get too worried.

David, I wish you all the best, but honestly, You HAVE to keep communications open with individuals that you have sold/done work/whatever. If you do not. Then you will end up like Simon... I truly disagree with Mark about taking your words on this board as good enough. It would not be for me if I had not heard from you.
Also, if I were owed something (which I am not, I am just an outsider) I would not be overly happy that you were going to the roundup (which I do not know if you are for sure, but it appears so...) Again, I am not trying to start crap or be an ass. Just advice. I sincerely hope everything works out for you.

ok, hopefully he gets back soon I guess. My booster is all but toast and its on my daily driver.
I hate selling things that require shipping, but always make sure it gets in the mail pronto. I figure if the person I sold it to was quick to pay, I should be quick to ship. I even see a 60 series booster on ebay now for cheaper than I paid.. oh well. thx- Dustin |

I spoke with David a little earlier today. I expressed your concerns over the recently purchased items. I am sure he will be in touch with each of you.
He is super swamped at the shop, however he seems to be turning things around. He recently took on a new business partner who should be a huge asset to ULC. Please let us know if David contacts you. __________________ Leesburg, GA 78 FJ40....On going project! WWBD |

Cruiserdawg, could you please put in a good word for me? It would be much appreciated. I purchased a Tudra brake booster from him Feb 16 but have not received it or heard from him. I have not been able to reach him.
thanks! Dustin |

Good news guys, dd called me today and everything is good to go. He sent my stuff out. I guess it turned out to be just a slow mail delivery or something. It took him almost a week and a half to get my cashiers check. I guess I was getting worried for nothing. Hell, it took over 3 weeks for ccot to get a check from me one time and I'm in arkansas. I should learn my lesson and start sending my checks certified.

Glad to see someone bought that as he was suppoed to get back with me about them. I understand its hard to keep up with everything, when owing a buisness. But I think the #1 thing with getting buisness and keeping it is to be personable and have great communication. My rear main seal on my 3FE is puking at a faster rate on a weekly basis. I'm staying on top of it until I can get enough money saved to have it repaired. I also need an adjustment on my transfer case to keep my Low to stay engaged when the tranny gets dropped.
If I can't fix this myself (more than likely), I will be taking it to Urban. "Woh is me" if he keeps the wagon for 3 weeks, because I'd rather he, with his excellent knowledge of 3FE's and A440's, keep it that long as opposed to some idiot who thinks Cruisers are nothing but mall queens. Hell, the guy picked me up from the airport on a Sunday once when he was done working on my wagon. So my business goes to Urban! __________________ Eric Hagan - Auburn, Alabama Manufactured 3/90, frame stamp 0001746 '91 FJ85 - 'Cattywampus' - Currently looking like a pinched off turd - "One beautiful piece of shit" - Doors, hood, wheels, rear "split" hatch (this option no longer availbale on the Cattywampus model), front seats, rear seats, headliner, sunroof, ignition, too many other things to mention... |
