11 14 04 BOD meeting reminder

Better late than never. BOD meeting tonight, 5pm left coast, 8 pm right coast. If you don't have the ph# and passcode, check your email, that info along with the agenda went out in reminder form this afternoon.

Despite some good discussion related to the budget, this meeting was a waste of time. Why? Because most delegates didn't show up, so there was no quorum. Yes, we're back to that despite weeding out dead clubs with the chapter in good standing forms. I realize that not all delegates can make all meetings, but for whatever reason I found last night to be particularly frustrating. There were two very important items on the agenda: the budget, and the upcoming election. And yet the majority of delegates didn't deem it important enough to show up. This is not only a disservice to your club (who expects you to attend the meetings), but shows no respect for your fellow board members who do show up for the meetings. It's a waste of time to discuss issues and not be able to resolve them due to lack of a quorum.

Please show up for the meetings.

Yes, it is extremely important that Delegates phone in to these meetings and participate. There is more to being a Chapter in Good Standing than having your club listed in Trails.

It was my intention not to call for CGS forms but if participation is floundering, I will call for them in a second and again, weed out non-participating chapters.

We have a Special Board Meeting slated for Dec 5th. Three motions will be addressed which will set us up for a successful December 12th Voting meeting. Delegate presence is requested at each of these meetings. If you cannot attend, find an alternate.

Primary communication is Bodreps. If you are a Delegate and Not on Bodreps, contact Erik Christianson and get involved.

Yep, it was disappointing that way. "Membership has it's priviledges." As this applies to bod members and chapter delegates, it also means membership comes with responsibilities. It is entirely understandable that an individual might miss meetings from time to time. It's not good when the percentage of individuals missing a meeting is high enough to kill a quorum. This is why we have alternates Can't make a meeting? Call your alternate. Not making quorum not only negatively impacts our ability to get any biz done, but it also WASTES $500-$700 of member dollars with no return.

As noted above, please make an effort to attend, or contact your alternate. If you're not recieving bodreps mail, get on list with Eric Christiansen.

My contact info is in the trails and Jacki our Admin assistant knows how to get ahold of me quite quickly. I will also be going thru the Chapter in good standing forms and checking that each delegate is on the BOD reps list so they receive information in a timely manner.
Please attend.. I know there are clubs out there that have not attended one meeting this year!

I am covering this at the meeting Thurs nite and via the LSLC list to the other chapters, hopefully it won't happen again at least from LSLC.
