Hey man, you tell me what you want photos of and you can have it. Assuming it's cruiser related.

How about the Cruise Moab photos you're promising over on Pirate!

Oh I'm saving the best for you. The stuff that gets posted on pirate isn't printable anyway.

Mr. Kaderabek,

has the idea been proposed that for one issue all the color pages be filled with only photos? a 'photography' issue of Trails? put out a request for photographs never shared online? it might be a beast to try and go through all of them but i think it would be a cool issue. they could be broken down by model or style. even fill some of the monochrome pages with greyscale photos. just a thought.

First off, why are you calling me Mr. Kaderabek...?

As to your suggestion, Dave, I don't know if this has come up previously or not. I'm not opposed to the idea for the most part. I do think it would exclude a lot of editorial content (the regular columns, for example). At the very least we would need descriptive captions so it wasn't just a Photo Bucket page in magazine form.

I think the obstacles would be as follows:

1) Cost -- we're scraping by to maintain 32 pages of color now. Running 64 pages of 4C would be cost prohibitive. But we could afford it in the current format, 32 pp 4C, 32 pp 1C. Maybe 32 pages of color rigs and 32 pages of the regular 1C columns?

2) Obtaining submissions -- it's so much easier to "prematurely epubulate" on the internet than it is to be patient enough to be published in a print magazine. You're well aware of this (and have been very patient). Most people aren't this way. They want it easy, fast and on their screen. The TLCA Member Rigs section is a good example of this -- it's about to be discontinued due to lack of submissions. To populate 32 pages of the same sort of content could take months to collect, by which time 50% of it would have been posted to Mud, Pirate and TTORA. And old news is old news.

So yeah, I'm open to the idea. I'm not sure logistically how to pull it off. I'll give it some more thought.

TJK

I just did a Google search for "epubulate"- it says "there are no documents that match these search terms, please try again."

Mr. Kaderabek- did you make up this word or is it some kind of Carolina thing?

Trust me -- it is not a Carolina thing. We're too laid back....

It's my term -- refers to folks who want to get things out (if you will) perhaps a little faster than might be prudent.

If you know what I mean.

it made me laugh. although i'm dumb enough to understand it

i guess i didn't exlain clearly. i just meant photos for the color pages we currently have not the whole mag as color. for sure it would have to include a blurb of the truck, the location, the photographer etc. what spawned the idea is i've been going through old club run photos on my harddrive and posting them in the WC forum as a game to see who can name the truck, the owner and location. (see attached photo, 2 people got it)

i agree most people do suffer from premature epulation but i also think there a quite a few TLCA members who would be willing to wait on showing the photo if it were for the right cause.

The reason i called you Mr? it's better than Jackass (check your email shortly, you have no idea the trip you missed out on)

I have a pretty good idea.

Check your email and you'll see the trip I'm currently missing out on.

I just wonder if folks don't send their rig in for Member Rigs, why would they send their rig in for an issue of member rigs? I'll have to think that one through.

TJK

(That's Mr. Jackass.)

What about populating the color pages with (more) pictures for each article, and put the text in the 1C? Probably too cut up.... I'm sure that would get us a few more negative threads here....

I still owe you a tech article, I haven't forgot Todd. I did it and took lots of pics, but still need to write it up.
