Liability Insurance from TLCA
I know that when a club is a active club in TLCA that they are covered by the insurance. The question that I have is, when can that isurance be used. Is it everytime that the club has a club run, and who is covered under it.
Also does anyone know where I can find out more info about this. I just want to make sure that I am covered in case of an accident. __________________ www.tlca.org President-Central Valley Crawlers www.centralvalleycrawlers.org www.marlincrawler.com |

The TLCA insurance is for event coverage, you are only covered if your club schedules an event and applies for the insurance and there is a fee involved. The EVP is the contact for the insurance.

Your TLCA Chapter club can secure coverage for events and club runs by submitting a request and check to the TLCA EVP. The cost is $259. Insurance coverage for club runs can be secured under what is called ... hmmm, I'll have to go look for exact terminology... but basically for a club run in which only club members are covered. Most clubs do not do this due to the cost for a simple club run. you can find out specifics by reviewing the TLCA by laws and SOPs. lets see, TLCA Event sponsorship consists of Hosted (Rubithon), Sanctioned (CM, GSMTR, Black Hills - must be TLCA only) Open (Frolic, Gambol - open to non TLCA members) Rally - PMC Swap Meet, no OHV activities Restricted - vehicle type specific (originating from CCC) and the last one is called... Limited - local Club members, club runs with only club members. This info is located the SOPs. __________________ Tony Twiddy #5049 Last edited by TRT2; 10-23-07 at 04:20 PM. |

And to clarify further, the TLCA insurance does NOT cover participants. It covers the sponsoring club's members, specifically officers and the club itself. It is for liability ONLY. All participants, including sponsoring club members and officers need to have their own insurance for medical and any vehicle damage. Clubs who sponsor events should make sure all participants, including their own club members, have valid vehicle and medical insurance. The upside is that it is very affordable for clubs who wish to sponsor events and protect themselves from liability. My recollection is that the coverage is a million bucks or thereabouts. It is mandatory for securing permits from BLM for events on BLM land.
