Why you lost me as TLCA member

Firstly and most importantly, my magazine was always arriving a month plus later than everyone else. I was always told to contact the office and given the same advice that the postal serice was to blame.

Has there been any headway with this problem?

I will continue to support mud.

Cheers.

Rob

Your TLCA membership is not only a magazine subscription. It provides much more to the entire Toyota and 4 wheeling comunity than just the Trails. Im sorry that you havent been geting your mag in a timely manner but that is such a small part of what they do for us that it is almost irrelivent. It is a great publication but the other services they provide for us more than warrent the membership fees even if the Trails never existed.

TLCA seems to disagree with you 71-Cruiser
Quote:
What benefits come with TLCA membership?
Perhaps the biggest benefit is the subscription to Toyota Trails, TLCA's bi-monthly newsletter publication. It has been called the ultimate resource for Land Cruiser parts and aftermarket products. Every major Land Cruiser supplier, and most smaller suppliers, in the U.S.A. and Canada advertise in Toyota Trails.
The Trails also has articles and features on every aspect of technical maintainance and modification (eventually), trail rides, trail tips, funny stories, first aid, and more. In addition, there is a Tech Exchange section, where you can get answers to your questions (or comment on other members questions), and a 'For Sale' section - free to members - through which many new and used parts are bought and sold. And, the Trails is loaded with pictures and drawings of our favorite vehicles.
As a TLCA member, you'll be able to receive "Member Only" discounts from many of our Associate (Business) Members. Not all Associate Members give discounts, but enough do that the cost of your TLCA membership could easily be returned in discounts alone. Our Associate Members also advertise exclusive product sales that only our members see.

It means different things to different people... If you don't, or can't attend events, then Trails is the major reason to belong to TLCA, if you do attend events, then Trails may not be that important. TLCA probably says that Trails is the main reason, because they know that only maybe 25% (# I just made up...) of members attend events so the majority of TLCA members get Trails as their main benefit....

Rob,

How's is getting out of TLCA going to make your magazines arrive sooner?
I know it sucks to wait, but it's better than no TT at all. Spend a few more bucks and go for the premium delivery. First class mail.

Rob, unfortunately they are probably right that Canada Post is to blame. Canada Post can take much longer than anyone south of the border. It's one of the pleasures of being a Canadian resident!!

I thought this was answered before? TLCA can't fix Canadian mail. Jenn can't send you missing issues if you don't tell her.

Many people have offered up suggestions and ideas in your numerous other gripe posts. Alan and Tony have both offered up thoughts and ideas.

Sorry to see you go, but you probably made the best decision for yourself.

There was not then, and continues to not be currently, anything we can do to track mazil once it leaves the hands of the USPS and enters Canada.
If you know the Canadain Postal system well enough to provide us a trackable option thru them, I'm certainly open to hearing about it.
Short of changing your delivery to Fedex, UPS, or DHL who have international tracking, I'm not sure what to do for you.

I continue to be at your service;

There is tracking options available for stuff to Canada. I had something sent to me that had tracking on it from Wisconsin to B.C. through the US Postal System and Canadian Postal system. It won't be cheap though.

If you put the USPS tracking number into the Canada Post system it will show up if it was coming to Canada.

lost me for pretty much the same reason.

I recieved 3 of the magazines in the year, and well, frankly was a bit underwhelmed. not being rich or from texas, little of the tech applied to me, if any.

(it is a nicely produced magazine, I'll give you that, not trying to insult anyone)

however, I can see that the tlca does a lot of good things, and puts on great events, but up here, the magazine is about the only tangible thing one gets from membership, and to me, it's not worth it.

as for the mail thing, I'm pretty surprized by the problem, canpost is a very reliable system, and I get things in the mail from the states almost weekly, without issue or lengthy delays.

Great idea, I will consider this and will also contact canada post.

UPS or fedex sounds like a even better idea.

Thanks

But recently I recived two small switches that took almost a month to get here.

The postal services used 9-11 as an excuse for horrendous service. I used to monitor when people were getting trails in the LCML and I always got mine within a day of the first US members (generally in the same state as the printer). Fortunately for me, our club decided to get our trails bulk shipped and I pick mine up like clockwork at every other club meeting. There is nothing timely in Trails anyway. A six month old one is as good as the current issue. I don't know why it matters that it takes a month to get here.

I try to do at least one event each year and my membership is worth the price for that alone.

It wasn't a poke, dude. Its the nature of paper media and if it weren't true we'd never sell a back issue. If I want to know what happened at last weeks event I can find it right here on mud. Three months later a Trails shows up with a better written article about it. In the same issue is a report of another run Ive never heard of and a race I knew nothing about and a buildup by somebody I don't know and all of it is riveting and timeless. Trails is not a newspaper its a magazine.

Which of course is what makes the publication "Timeless".

The shipping of Trails to Canada has, and will continue to be, a problem for us. The bulk shipping to local Canadian clubs has worked well, but as noted, you need to belong to that club.

I guess my point is, we know its a problem, we have tried various approaches to remedy the problem, but a problem it remains.

I understand your frustration... but most ideas involve more money or more time, neither of which are usually acceptable to most.

Tough call to make. I wish we had better answers.

Oh, thanks for letting us know. Seriously, appreciate the feedback.

Why it matters................... because I enjoyed the magazine and when it reachs the public and I hear how good it is and have to wait a month. Guess I am like a kid at Christmas and cannot wait to read it.

Wish I had your patience.

I don't know why it matters that it takes a month to get here.
