I second the nomination for Alan.
He is good for TLCA... even if he questions that fact. :-) I believe Casey has been nominated to continue as Treasurer. I second that. I nominate Nick Stone for AVP (continuing) and hope he is willing to continue. Nick has brought stability to that role and our contracts. *** I encourage all TLCA members to seriously think about volunteering for TLCA Board positions. Even if you see someone already nominated for a certain position, toss your name in the hat. All too often folks will not volunteer because they see someone already involved. In most cases, those involved are continuing if only to help TLCA, and often would like to see others asking to take over via a nomination. It is healthy for everyone and avoids burnout. If you have ever been frustrated with TLCA for whatever reason, volunteering for Board position is your way to influence TLCA and perhaps better it for everyone, even if you only address the situation that originally frustrated you. ![]() **** thanks all! __________________ Tony Twiddy #5049 |

I'd gladly volunteer to step up for the V.P of Marketing & Sales. I'd like to make a push for new membership, retention of current membership renewals, and more vendor focused sponsors and events with fund raisers benefiting TLCA.

I nominate Jeff Zepp to stay around as mountain rep unless he has ambition to move up, I like the direction of the association, that takes good leadership at the top and a board that works well together. Must be a good combination now, Larry

Justin Ward from LSLC has asked to be nominated for the MSVP position. So I'm nominating him.

Yes, unless nominated for something else. One way or another I'll continue on the board. Somebody (Greg Mumm?) said I had TLCA tatooed on my butt :-)

Good question Justin!
Looking at the rules, it's perfectly okay for someone to run for two or more offices. Back in Tony Twiddy's time the question came up, "is it possible for an elected officer to serve as a delegate?" The BOD considered it and the consensus was no. The bylaws state that each delegate and officer get only one vote. So... the BOD concluded that folks should not hold two voting offices. One minor addition. If you run for two offices and win them both, it really puts someone in a bad place. They would get the position you backed out of, but they never won it. Kind of makes it hard for them to feel they have any support. I know, it happened to me. Happy Trails! 60 new e-mails in bodreps since Thursday! Holy drama Batman. I don't know how you folks can keep up with this? I certainly can't.
The speed at which miscommunications are currently traveling far exceeds the ability of anyone to try and sort out, much less try to provide some type of damage control. I certainly have questions about the Internet's ability to foster diplomacy and patience. It is obvious that we are coming to a crossroads. There are a few new faces, a few new ideas and lot of old problems, old grudges, and stereotypes that won't go away. The old timers are fatalistic about the newcomers chances for success, and the newcomers find their enthusiasm and ideas symied at every turn. This reminds me of a short poem from Ernest Hemingway: The age demanded The age demanded that we sing And cut away our tongue. The age demanded that we flow And hammered in the bung. The age demanded that we dance And jammed us into iron pants. And in the end the age was handed The sort of shit that it demanded. The TLCA is YOUR club. Treat it that way. Look a little further down the road than the next post, the next run, or the next issue and try to consider the other people involved here. That's all I'm gonna say for right now. Still gotta try to get to 6 more forums to see what else I've missed!
