My drinking credentials include being a member of the Century Club (100 cans of Miller Lite in a 96 hour period) and a lot of drunken liberty stops in foreign ports that I cannot quite fully remember, if that makes a difference to anyone.

I have absolutely no mechanical credentials whatsoever, but I do know the difference between a piston return spring and a johnson rod.
If I had a vote, I'd vote for ya....3 super high quality credentials here!!

Wow! We used to do case races in college after final exams and was lucky to get 24 Jennie Pounders down in 6 hours before meeting my girfriend out at some Sorereity party.. Any one that pounds that many Millers has to live by their Man Laws so and hope we get to hoist a few in the future.

Good luck!

Somehow I don't doubt that. I've heard that beer flows from the water faucets in Texas...

My name is Mark Van Meter, TLCA 15080, and have been involved with the TLCA for a little over 2 years now starting out with a rare 82 Toyota Trekker and now a well built 73 FJ40 affectionately named “Plum Loco”. I am currently nominated for the Secretary position for the TLCA.

My background in off-road started as a kid in the early 80s driving farm equipment for my Uncle and Grandmother and was hooked on driving vehicles off-road at the early age of 10 years old.

Volunteer experience has included past President of the Central Ohio Mountain Bike Organization (COMBO) where myself and a core volunteer group were responsible for working with and maintaining State funded trails using techniques for erosion and use control taught by The International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA).I was an active competitor in Downhill MTB and had to eventually quit racing due to a 3rd class shoulder separation at NORBA Nationals in Big Bear, CA 1997.

I am a volunteer in Scottish Terrier Rescue assisting with placement in their forever homes and I also volunteer to W.E.Rock when they come to Columbus.

Currently serve as one of 3 Board Members for the Formula-Toy Rock Crawling Class and I am responsible for developing, maintaining and administrating http://www.formulatoy.org and helping to decide the direction for the class.

I hold an A.A.S. degree in Technical Communication and I am employed in the same capacity. I guess this means I can technically communicate. 

My ambition for the Secretary position is to expand on Kowboy’s ongoing theme of PAR-TIC-IPATION by adding COMMUNICATION with the members of the TLCA by reaching out to them in as many ways as possible (TLCA Runs, Smaller Club Runs, The Internet, and any sort of direct communication) to spread my enthusiasm and interest in participating the club. The club cheerleader if you will (don’t worry, I won’t wear the outfit unless of course want to supply with me alcohol or pay me lots of $$) and hope to motivate others by example.

My wife, Rosa, & I have been married for 7 years and have a 3 year old daughter named Isabella along with 2 Huskies and a Pit Bull.

Last minute campaign blurb:

Up for re-election as Mountain/Central Individual Representative. Over the last two years as M/C IR:
  • Made hundreds of phone calls to members (mostly former members) to try to help get our membership back up.
  • Stood up for my constituents (IMHO) and voted for them in matters before the BOD
  • Missed only one BOD meeting in two years, when I was recovering from surgery (only missed two meetings in four years, was Rising Sun delegate for 2 years before becoming M/C IR)
  • Brought several new chapters on board, including White Trash, Swamp Donkeys, Channel Island and Horsetooth. Am currently working with Tall Corn and a group in Montana
  • Been 100% active in participation on bodrepsi and bodrepsii, and this forum since it was reactivated
  • Have made it a personal crusade to recruit new members and retain existing members through face to face meetings with Toyota 4x4 owners I chance across, whether parking lots, grocery store, wheeling or wherever I find them

General cruiser-related:
  • Owned and drive Land Cruisers for 24 years, currently own nothing but Land Cruisers
  • TLCA member since 1996
  • Rising Sun member since 1999, served as Secretary, Webmaster, Commander, TLCA delegate, back to Secretary again
  • Do all my own wrenching (from oil changes to engine rebuilds) and fabrication (from bumpers to restoration)
  • Started my Land Cruiser-emphasized web site in 1997, which is now up to over 80 pages and 700 photos
  • Been a subscriber and active contributor to the LCML since 1997, to a lesser degree, CCOT, IH8Mud, Birfield.com, Rising Sun and other cruiser-related forums over the years.

Happy cruisin'!
