Exiled...

I believe you represent a large majority in your description.... and I certainly appreciate the help you've given and for hanging in there, even when you sometimes had to grumble about it.

Thanks!

Tony

Right-on Exiled... I am feeling overly burned-out with a Windows certification board I tutor on now.. It is something that wanes back and forth for me and it just happens I am at the bottom of the burn-out now.. Glad I found IH8MUD to fill in some of that time I spent tutoring!

Found TLCA in the days/weeks after purchasing my first 80 last March. I have checked out many websites related to LC's and listed the TLCA's website as one of those must visit frequently sites. I waited until today to join, however...

When I bought my LandCruiser I wanted to find parts cheaper, So I looked on the www.
I eventually found TLCA. After reading some of the posts here. I came up with an Idea. If you ever sell your LandCruiser. Stick a Toyota Trails magazine in the glove box or under a seat. Maybe the new owner might just find it and be interested in joining. Just a Thought. Thanks

A loud guy from N CA kept giving me beers until I felt so bad I joined again.

I originally joined in 92 or 3 found the info in a old SOR catalog. Left the fold for a while but back now

Was Stationed in Alaska. Bought my 40 from a co-worker. Went to the local 4x4 shop, looking for a manual steering box. Counter guy said to try Mark Whatley's shop. Me "Who is that?" Him "That guy right over there" Me "Thanks". Introduced myself, he gave directions to his shop. Went to his shop, and he had a few mags and stickers there. Still didn't realize who he was until I actually read the "TT's" he gave me. Joined tha same year. 2000 If memory serves.

Before any good land cruiser resources existed, we had the offroad mailing list admin'd by Stefan Roth. That's where I first found out about the TLCA.

Later the cruiser community broke off and formed the LCML, then came the other lists, pirate, ih8mud, etc. It's great all the resources we've got now vs the Toyota Trails "newsletter" and Specter's catalogue we had.

The PO of my cruiser mentioned a local club in Atlanta that was a chapter of a national club.

I started to do some internet sleuth work and happened upon the TLCA website.

I think it was from an ad in the back of one of the Petersen/Primemedia 4x4 mags. Which we don't do anymore. Something to consider...

My first wheeling experience was at GSMTR '99 with my brother lcrzrlvr. I was hooked and once I found my 40 he suggested I become a TLCA member.

I bought a 69 40 in 89 and it had a TLCA sticker on the windscreen. Joined just recently after pulling my head out and realizing that my disease is not an anomaly.

I joined after visiting Slee Offroad and I read an old issue of TT. This is back in May of this year.

I spent about 4 months shopping for my first cruiser about 7 years ago, and in my search, I joined the LCML for more information and that's where I heard about TLCA.

I bet I am the only person with a copy of magazine coverage of the first Rubithon.
I finally went on one some years later and some guy named Tony walked up with his hand out and a bunch of raffle tickets and he's been takin my money ever since , gotta love TLCA. Or maybe I just love Tony .

Nah , it is the TLCA

In 1998 I wanted an fj40 but, not knowing much about Cruisers, I worried a little about replacements parts....i did a little internet searching and found TLCA (in addition to plentiful spare parts!). I requested an introductory TT issue in '99 around the time I bought my Cruiser; TT competely blew me away, kudos to Henry B for kicking it into high gear! and to Todd for keeping it there. I joined TLCA shortly after I got my Cruiser roadworthy in 2001.

I think the website was good bait, and the hook was firmly set after I got the introductory copy of TT.

I found TLCA through Mudraks. After searching on the internet for parts and mechanics Mudraks name was coming up and he was resonabily close. After a visit with him I was hooked on Land Cruisers. He also encouraged me to join PMC Which I did this year. Look forward to going on a couple of runs this year now that the crusier is assembled.
