Saw this on the local craigslist and if it'll bolt up I think I'll grab it.

Toyota Diesel engine

I have a 1992 FJ80 with a 3fe and a440. Will this engine bolt up to my trans?

I doubt it would be a bolt in job. As it is being sold with the manual box why not fit the lot, no doubt that would be easier? Also remember automatic gearbox's are sensitive to the power/torque band, diesels are more about low end torque, not so sure it would suit an auto, in the absence of any replies that's all I can offer, sorry mate.

Where I live, with brutal stop & go traffic, an MT isn't an option.

Don't put an H engine in your 80. The truck is way too heavy for the power output of that thing. Even a turboed 2H would be borderline.

not worth the hassle and it would bolt it, most of the H engines in NA went into later 60 years.

H/2H engines are my least favorite cruiser diesel. they are dogs and at best, borderline reliable and mediocre power. now 12HTs, that's something different!!

Not in a million years. No. Never. Don't even think about it.

The 3FE is the most reliable and indestructible petrol motor Toyota made for the Land Cruiser.
