Hi,

Does anyone have a list of what diesel engines Toyota used for their old fork lift trucks? It might be a valuable place when looking for a used engine, right? :)

I remember reading on one of the swap sites where a fellow wanted to "convert" his truck to diesel, well he went and ordered a new all mechanical Cummins from a AG company and ran into all sorts of problems. Most of which related to where the torque band was designed to operate, as well as the oil pump never outputting the correct pressure and a myriad of other items - as the engine was designed to run at a specific rpm range all the time - instead of a variable throttle situation that a vehicle operates in. In the end i do believe he sorted it out, He indicated if he were to do it all over he would not have done the same thing again. It may be best to search out vehicle engines instead of industrial engines.

It's fairly common knowledge that 2H's were used in Toyota Forklifts. Not sure how or if they were modified from what's in the Cruisers.

There was a 12Z or something and they had a rocker cover like the 12HT 1HZ etc . We had a thread about it a few years back. When we looked at the performance figures they were fairly underpowered. The engines were designed to move around heavy loads at low speeds and be super economical.
You might be able to get more power out of them, but the time and effort doesn't seem worthwhile.
