just did a water pump replacement due to it weeping when sitting after driving around town. Temp never gave me an issue, fzj80 has 267k and looks like it was the original water pump. But as you can see in the picture all of the fins broke off.

Where do they go when that happens?

I can't believe that the the lc was still running fine with technically no pump to circulate the water properly.

If the fins corroded away slowly there might just be small particles blown into the cooling system. Did you open the Thermostat housing, replace the Tstat while you were in there?

Now that's amazing.......especially to not overheat. That may be proof that an 80 don't really need a water pump....lol

Didn't do the t-stat yet but looking at the routing of the water passages... I bet they're all clogged up in there. Lol.

Holy cow!

Your coolant water chemistry was greatly neglected! Conductivity of your coolant was creating electrolysis! Not Good!
