that looks awesome

Cool build, I think I almost bought that truck a few years ago, just couldn't make the logistics work

Photo evidence of more slow progress. Engine and transmission out to allow access for "sheet metal quilting" around the firewall and tranny hump.

Piecing finally done. Should be nice enough weather tomorrow to open up the shop and burn all the seams in with some ventilation. Next up (I think) will be to work over a spare head and manifolds to swap on the engine. May as well make this one ss grunty as the one in the 62.

Top of the intake manifold shaved. Hopefully this will now clear the stiffening rib on the hood, still some excess material that can be removed if need be.

Head checked out. Started doing some porting tonight. Bowl area of the intake runners are well on their way.

Reverse switch added to the transmission (manufactured in 1948, predates reverse lights by 20 years or so). Switch lived a previous life in a split case.

A few pics... Haven't been on mud for months and months. It's been dropped back in, time to do more piecing and pondering between stretches on the rig.

Sweet ride man. Glad to see it with its heart in

Sweet ride man. Glad to see it with its heart in

Hopefully for the final time too.... Spent some time last night getting the steering box back in and a bunch of little bits added to the engine (dizzy stabbed in place, idle control valve, a bunch of hoses) and some staring and thinking about what else still needs to be crammed in. I'm kind of anxious to mod the air box to get it sitting nice in the engine bay, but there's a bunch of little things (coil / igniter, fuel filter, wiring ...) that I should find homes for first. Shop is heating up for tonight... hopefully more progress before heading back to work on Wednesday or Thursday.

OOOOOOOO shiny!! Nice!!

Got the coil and fuel filter positioned and bolted in the other night. Played around to see where I can splice the ebrake assembly into the floor. Out at the rig now, but last night was quiet and I was able to disassemble the heater and clean it all up. Yay muriatic acid!! Boo mouse fur and dead moths!!! I should have brought along some autosol to really make it sparkle.

Did a bit of test fitting of the air cleaner and intake plumbing tonight. Should fit with little modification other than the mounting feet on the canister. Down the road I'll likely clock the inlet tube that feeds into the canister so it can pass through the fender cavity and mate up with a dorkel.

Also drained a couple litres of 30+ year old "gas" out of the tank. I may get it dropped yet before heading back to work. I've got a few ideas for what to do about the gas tank and pump to suit the high pressure EFI needs floating in my mind, having the tank out for a good look should help narrow it down....

Thought I'd put up a few pictures to keep this thread from bumping to page 2 with the fleury of activity in here. :p I've only been home maybe a dozen times since new years, for a day or less at a time... so little has been done. But in the last couple weeks I've been working on an organized to do list and a shopping list so I can get back at it with some gusto (hopefully next week).

Last night I did did few test spots to see how the paint looks after a bit of Autosol.
