That number on the block is production number you need to look further back on the block there will be a large embossed 4BDXx there. My 4bd1t has "4bd1" if I remember correctly.
 
I couldn't find the model stamp. I'm sure I'll see it eventually. I was able to read the plate on the valve cover by taking pictures of it. Based on these two photos I believe it is a 4BD1 from October 1980. Note that it looks like the date mark was refreshed at some point. Also, it just says "4BD".
You have to really zoom in to see the 4BD.

I would say that is an old Naturally Aspirated 4BD1; we got them in the old Land Rovers the army uses.

Thanks for confirming AussieHJCruza. When I found out what it was I did read about them being in the Land Rovers in your army. Thought that was pretty neat.
