I spoke to the guys at Wilwood before getting new rotors. They say that cross-drilling reduces braking surface area by upwards of 50%, and that there's really no out-gassing problems now. That was a thing of the past with organic compounds. I went w/ the PowerSlot rotors for my 4runner (brembo blanks that are slotted), Porterfield R4s carbon/kevlar pads, Earl's custom SS braided hoses, valvoline syn brake fluid (about 1.5 qts). Oh, I put a new FJ80 MC in there, too. Huge difference in performance. I think the slots in the rotor help prevent pads from glazing in general, but maybe that wouldn't happen at all with the composite pads I used. BTW, prev. rotors were cheapos (non-OEM)..warped after only 1 yr. No warping w/ the brembos after 1.5 yrs. I've never tried DBA.
