Had the same challenge on my '78 FJ. Ended up using a spring compression tool, reversing the threaded collar with the hooks and using it to push the spring hanger bolt and bushing out. There is a lip on the perch that works as a good ledge to hook to.
 
Pins are cheap. It’s the twenty first century, sawsall and Diablo brand carbide tipped blades. Cuts like butter. No smoke, no bleeding knuckles.
