I'm interested in a set of seat boxes for my '84 FJ60. I have Volvo seats that are pretty tall. How tall is the box?

Just as without a seat box the major consideration in seat choice is going to be height (seat pan height/depth). As a general rule, the seat will be out of the question if the front height is greater than 8" when eyeballed from the runners to the top of the seat. Less than that is better.
The good news with an 84 though is that if you have already made the seats work they will probably work great with the box as well. You have the early floor pan profile with the tall front lateral support. The box sits right down on top of that support.

too bad, my seats are too tall.

Do you have the seats currently mounted in the truck? If you managed to make them fit without cutting the front floor support then they should be at the same height with a seat box in there (.125" higher)
