I do like that mount, how it leverages the attachment points in the floor already.

Have any ideas/drawings for phase 2 yet? That's what I'm trying to figure out now.

basic measurements of the space around a tire laying down flat. Right edge is the rear tailgate... this is looking down of course. Blue boxes are the wheel wells. Red line at right edge is the tailgate opening.

Right, but that eliminates the fridge. Thanks my man, appreciate the input.

@Cruiserdrew I'm hoping you can post some pictures of your setup :D

You're going to make me take all the junk out? Lol. It may take a day or two.

:D

You don't have to take the junk out. Just a pic of the top, any hatches that lead down in and then how it looks from the rear doors. I can dream up the rest from there.

If you meant me on eliminating the fridge, no. The diagram I sent only goes up to where the floor breaks down to what is usually under the seats & the footwell.

Ah, I misunderstood. Makes more sense now.

Moonshine is going to get a lot of love here soon in prep for GSMTR.

What do you think about this?

This is where I got my design :grinpimp:

It's cool but I don't see the point of having it stick out that far at all.

Probably makes parking a bitch too.

I really like @woytovich bunper, it's what I'm going to shoot for for mine. Looks just like the Metal Tech 80 bumper.

I think that giant stinger thing was in style for awhile, but with a long wheel base truck, you basically don't need it. Plus it looks silly.

I would recommend a relatively light weight bumper, forget the stinger and aim for something that provides better outside corner protection, tow points and a solid winch mount.

And build in the winch mount up front. Don't try and modify the wrong bumper later.

I liked @reevesci 's front 60 bumper as seen here:

Have you seen Johnny wheel?!??!?!? :D

Sticks out far to stop an ass over front flip and to protect the radiator/hood if other "bad things" happen....

I know, but if you're doing an ass over in the 60 wagon, you've gone off a cliff and you have way bigger problems. Just to the top of the radiator all the way across is plenty. But the "A" pillars are so weak in an FJ60 you'd be dead anyway.

I'll stand by it. It was a style thing for a time, based on KOH rigs and such, but the time has passed. I vote for a tasteful understated winch bumper. It's a wagon, not a buggy.

I have not seen Johnny wheel, but one day I hope to. With all 4 tires on the dirt at the same time!

I'm building the bumper around my winch. Maybe the stinger is over-exaggerated in the "renderings", but basically just a slightly taller version (and narrower stinger) than what I had before, which *reminder* was this. I will eventually build wings like I used to have onto the center section, but I won't have time before GSMTR to get that done.

I'm going to cut out this crossmember, weld in a 3/8" plate to span the frame rails, then weld in this warn winch plate to that. I'm going to add some proper recovery points as well.

What happened/why are you getting rid of the old one?

Dude, you are like two years late  It was gone before CMCC 2014, the last one I was at.

I got rid of the old front bumper when I put the D60 up front because I moved the axle forward and used longer springs. The shackle hangers up front ended up just past the end of the frame so I had to take up the space that the bumper previously did with a crossmember.

The crossmember will be replaced with this winch mount.
