last week when 4 wheeling, the winch lever on the actual winch, that disengages the winch so you can pull the cable out, stopped working. you can feel it moving something, but it's faking me out. has anyone had this problem who could tell me where to start? i went to the ramsey website and lookedup the closest dealer, but i don't think they're in business anymore. this ramsey is on my 71 fj40. i have no idea how long it's been there.

Where are you located? The engaging arm for the winch is a little weak, and a friend of mine who has the same one uses a big ass pry bar to engage/disengage. Look at wrecker PTOs, they are basically the same.
