Hi fellow mudders,
after selling my built 1997 LX450 early this year I finally got my replacement, 1 owner 2001 LX470 in immaculate condition...

after checking into the AHC system and perhaps replacing the Expensive shocks and Accumulators in the future, I stumbled upon this set up from UK, has anyone used their upgraded accumulators ?

cheers,

I have them fitted, they are citroen spheres modified to fit the land cruiser. They work as expected, not sure of there longevity as they have only been on for 5 months. Going to get my originals regassed at pleiades to have as a backup.

Saliya. Nothing to add to the parts above. Your LX 450 was awesome. Welcome to the 100 series platform. Great find. Navi or not? I'm one city over from you I believe. San Juan Cap.

thanks for the comments about my LX450, yeah I miss it a lot, it was superb, it's up in lake Tahoe now,

LX470 No Nav. just Nakamichi Premium sound, I am going to keep this stock and have the wife and my younger daughter drive it. I will find another LX470 or 100 (2000 and up) to modify, btw, I found this in San Clemente..from the original owner..complete service history with extra keys books and window sticker, just had Water Pump/timing belt done.. need some decent tires, i'll order some 285 / 75 Goodyear Duratracs...

That's really interesting! It probably doesn't ring a bell with our US friends, but Citroen spheres seem like a smart adaptation. How are they modified? What recent Citroens used these spheres? C6?

Pleiades is a UK company that specialises in citroen suspension, they came up with this modified sphere as they had a lot of interest from land cruiser owners. The company above bought some of pleiades spheres and copied them to sell on ebay. The modification is just a change in pressures to suite the land cruiser and also a thread adapter is fitted. I think they are the C6 spheres which are then modified.

@uHu @PADDO I am tagging you in this thread. I just checked out Pleiades (mentioned above), it looks totally legit. And just might be the answer to some AHC issues at a very reasonable price indeed. At the quoted price of about €500, this is worth doing almost as PM. With luck and some planning, one could even send the spheres to Pleaides for recharging for very little money indeed and need not replace them all.

Yes. Pleiades is known for excellent service. You'll find them mentioned on the LCclub.net forum, where the brits have used them, and even 100-owners up here on the mountain have sent their spheres to Pleiades in the UK for service or exchange. They seem to know their business, but are not very active on the web (Isn't that a good sign, btw ?).

Question = can I get my old units recharged or refurbished?
No the units cannot be refurbished as they are sealed units, recharged units are a total waste of money & dangerous = they still have worn-out diaphragm fitted which cannot be replaced! & can rupture, our units are 100% Brand New & have the latest type diaphragms so will last!

You can get them recharged, Pleiades has been doing it for years with success. Fact..
