My BJ42

As the new guy, I thought I'd post some photos of my cruiser. It's an 82 BJ42 brought over from Australia by the previous owner. Very minimal surface rust (on the body) and an all-original steel tub, aside from the right rear quarter. The only problem it had when I bought it was that the glow plugs weren't operating and that turned out to be just a dirty connection from the relay. Dirty connections and confusing wiring seem to be a theme with this one, as I'm sure it is with most old cruisers.

I'm planning on removing the 'roo-bar and mounting a winch, as well as incorporating some fog lights. There's also a lot of electrical work still to be done, and I have to mount the jump seats in the rear.

That all being said, if anyone has a front bumper for sale, or a set of seatbelts that would work with the rear jumpseats, I'd certainly be interested. Or if anyone wants to buy a big kangaroo bar.

New Cruiser

Here's my Christmas present to myself. 1992 (maybe 93, I have been meaning to check the VIN) HDJ81 VX Limited. It came from Japan with all the goodies, but I just got an OEM snorkel that I need to put on.

I had BJ-73 for a couple years (which I loved) but had to let it go for something a little more practical (ie. fast) on the highway. But I missed it too much. My Impala just wasn't cutting it off road. So this guys should keep me out of minivans for at least two more kids :).

Nice 81 :)

Is that a search light on top?

Yeah, the spotlight is remote-controlled from cab. Kinda handy (it goes all the way around), but you look like a poacher when you use it...

sweet rig

My Turn

Thought I'd posted already but I guess not. Details of my HJ are in my sig. Cool things are the turbo boosting at about 17psi and air bags on each corner. Hope to order a set of swampers for it this week. Most of the wheeling I do is in McMurray. Would love to have a group come up for a weekend. Quite a few placed to go up here and its all crown land which is nice...

Haha. You're my hero.

I'll post some pics of my new cruiser tomorrow.

This is my new cruiser. 1984 BJ60. It's got a SOA, ARB Air lockers F&R, ARB front bumper, custom rear bumper, 4.88's, M8274-50, IPF headlights, rally lights, and spot lights. 35''s, Tuffy console, and lots more.

It needs some work, the rear end is in the shop getting rebuilt, the rear springs are sagging, the starter is pretty much shot, and it has fist size holes in the floorboards, wheelwells, roof, everywhere.

Damn, looks like a fun rig :)

The first pic is my HJ61 at Pismo in 2004. It looks pretty much the same today except its sitting on 33s instead of 35s.

The second pic is from when I lived in Edmonton and owned a bunch of 40 series in addition to the 61. I still own the 78BJ40 on the left, the 77 FJ40 and 82 BJ42 are now living somewhere in Calgary.

That green 42 actually has been living in Kelowna for about 4-5 years now, it's painted blue and is a winter rig now

Jeez, what a slow sub-forum. I'm on the same page that had my 60 when I bought it back in 2010...

Anyways, I'm back folks. My father is the original owner of this truck. He's finally come to terms of to selling it, and within 3 days of the ad being up he's had four serious calls, and a buyer ready to come out from Kamloops as soon as he gets the go-ahead. It's well known I've always wanted to buy the truck if my dad ever listed it; tonight we sat down and worked out a deal. Did I get a deal? Not really. Do I care? Nope. I grew up in this truck, the sentimental value is priceless to me.

I have too many cars.

My buddy owns that old 60 now, he bought it last fall in Edmonton. And also some pics of my new toy with your old 60 in the background.

What year of 45 is that. Don't recognize those front fender signals. Vintage swampers too.
Pretty jealous right now.
