I've been told that the Manik brushguards were an $1100 add-on. And they are now discontinued. Isn't that the formula for a collectible...costly and rare?

Don't insurance companies have to restore damaged mall cruisers to original condition?

Where will body shops get OEM grillguards?

Let's send all of them to Gumby and Woody to raise money to support IH8MUD.com!

Ed,

There was no OEM brush guard for the 80 series or LX450 in the US. Manik was an aftermarket brand sold by may dealers. It was not endorsed by Toyota.......That doesn't mean it don't fit, it just aint GENUINE...... ;)

Footnote:

Toyota does not recommend or endorse installation of any type of guard, bumper, winch, gizmo, on a vehicle equipped with airbags. Don't shoot the messenger, just telling you the position Toyota takes on the matter.

cause the additional weight of the stuff, and alteration of impact zone and such changes the optimum airbag deployment from stock. in australia it's illegal to mount a non-airbag compliant bar to a vehicle with airbags. which means ARB needed to buy a 80 series with airbags, just to crash test it with their bar. and that's if they got it right first time

That helps explain the cost.
