Lock up is when the tranny "locks" into overdrive which occurs around 52-54 MPH. You should see the tach drop.

...and if the tranny doesn't go into lock up? Like I said, I'm new to the world of transmissions...
Could be as simple as the kick-down cable being out of adjustment or......she's dying
I haven't seen anywhere on how to adjust the kickdown cable. Is there a post I'm missing? How do you do it?
The way I did is adjusting the idle RPM and Max RPM as they were way offset. I found the procedure in the engine (2H in my case) FSM.
This is a FJ62, idle speed is managed by the ECU. There are two cables that attach to the spool at the throttle body that you'll want to adjust. Use the search tool because this has been covered many times.
