I' m about to replace my 2f with a chevy 350. How doe the combo in question runs? I'm currently running 32's & stock gear 3.70 My cruiser is a 79, and I know the tranny doe not belong to it. I bought it like that. the problem I have is very slow speed. I will eventually move to 35"s but I want to do it right? I would like the automatic but I'm being cost concious. how about the sm465 or sm420? I know that there would be a benefit from those trannies. the guy that's building the eng. told me I would be able to rev up my eng w/ no problem up till 5000 rpm's. Is the 3spd strong enough for 35's

Ditch the 3sp, but keep the transfer case. With a GM 350, the sm420 or sm465 will be a better and easier swap. 4.10s would be better for 35 inch tires than 3.70s, so swap those too.
