IH Help? What kind of locker is this?...making noise. (1 Viewer)

Stock 79 Scout II 304, dana 44 front and rear 3.53 gear ratio.
I hauled a load of wood off the mountain, now the locker seems to be partly engaging or not wanting to disengage. Serious popping from the driver side spider gear when turning.
Upon inspection main driver side spider gear has evidence of chipping.
Now, what I done- changed fluids/ LS additive- NO change, still popping/ slipping.
What makes this happen? What kind of LS is this? What do you all suggest i change out?

Found it

I just found out that locker is a power lock limited slip type. Now the question is
does this locker work well with the 3.54 gear ratio I am currently running.

It's not a locker at all.

It's a POWR-LOK.

It is a limited slip,or posi.

Yes it works good with your ring and pinion ratio(Tire size also comes into play though).

I would be looking to replace it.

If it's chippng teeth you should replace it. Also, IH had a special additive to go in the LS rear ends. It's blue.
