My fj62 has a low idle. When it is in 'park' with the engine running it has 500rpm. 650rpm is standard. When I put it in gear, the rpm drops to <400RPM and it wants to die. It sometimes dies when I come to a stop sign or stop light. How do I adjust that?

Thanks,
Leo in Mississippi

kinda funny because im idling too fast like 1200 to 1500. Im not sure why your 62 is idling like that but it might help if you pull out the throttle.

Check your timing. That will probably solve the issue. Before that check and grease the accel cable.

I just had the same problem with my '76 FJ 40. The problem was a warped intake manifold. The guy that I use to work on major problems like that simply sprayed some starting fluid around the intake manifold. As he did it the engine would accelerate. You might try that to see if that happens on yours. He fixed it by sandwiching 2 new intake gaskets together.

Weird!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now it's idleing too high, and I didn't do ANYTHING!

What's up with that!!!!!!!!!

Bull: Will disconnecting the battery still be an option NOW?
