Hey all,
Check it out! I just finished installing a courtesy light in the Land Cruiser.
It was pretty easy. I used some LED strip lights that I had lying around; it has a sticky backing but I bought some 10lb double sided tape for some extra durability. I put the strip just inside the door switch, this keeps it inside the weather stripping and doesn't get in the way of the door closing at all. The LED strip is weatherproof anyway but I don't think it'll see a whole lot of moisture in this location.
For power, I tapped into the dome light fuse for the positive lead and connected the negative lead to the door switch. With the dome and the courtesy light on (all LEDs now), the circuit only pulls about 175mA, MUCH less than the 7.5A fuse rating.
I've only done the driver's door so far, but that only took about hour to do so I think I can knock out one door each night after work this week.
Let me know what you think!
Cheers
