Hey guys been awhile since I have posted anything but this will catch up everything on my rig. My cruiser has had a small block Chevy for a few years now and it has always had issues here and there and in the last couple months I have really had issues with it and trying to chase the issues. I moved away for awhile and came home and got it out and drove it for awhile then went to my cabin 150 miles away and it was the nail in the coffin for the SBC a stock 2f would of outran it. So I decided instead of dealing with it I would put a diesel in. So I found a truck with a 6.5 turbo to swap in. Last winter I did a 6.2 swap in a 62 for those who remember. I have been working on this swap for 10 days now and thought I would bring it up to speed on here

So the first day I got it in the shop I had the small block ripped out within 2 hours

The next 2 days I got the 6.5 and nv4500 pulled out of the 95 6.5 truck I scored with 180k on it.

The next 2 days I pressure washed the motor then replaced the rear main front main water pump gaskets upper timing cover gasket and a couple others up front. Then the whole motor got freshened up with cummins tan engine paint.

Next I did a new clutch and resurfaced flywheel. Cleaned up and painted the bellhousing. Then I stuck the motor into the trans and set the drivetrain where it fit nicely. Only had to trim a little out of my floor and had to trim my passenger inner fender then I tacked the motor mounts in

Friday I dropped the trans and pulled the motor. Then I boxed in my motor mounts final welded them and painted them up then put the motor back in for good.

I didn't work on it yesterday and worked a few hours on it today which wasn't planned and also I didn't touch it on Halloween. But this is my progress as of up to tonight. Today I made the 6.5 stock radiator fit in the little engine bay instead of and expensive aluminum custom one so I saved some money for other places on it. I got it all mounted and the front clip bolted on for good and the hood shuts!

I love it!!

Is that an aftermarket turbo kit on there? Is that a hospital band on your left wrist?

That 6.5 looks real good painted Cummins beige :grinpimp:

That's a factory turbo.

Your 6.2 swap was awesome to look at at the Cruiser Outfitters meet. I'm excited to hear this one, you'll have to give me a ride.

stock turbo gm4 which spools off the line. The gm8 in later years had lag. 95 had the strongest 6.5 block also. And I have an f code motor which was the highest output of power that year. 195 horse and 385 ft pounds stock. And no not a hospital wrist brand haha and I thought the cummins color looked awesome too! Thanks :D

thanks! I appreciate that everyone liked the turn out of that one. This one I am hoping to look even cleaner then the 6.2 swap like I never swapped a motor. I will give you a shout when it's all done for a test ride :hillbilly:

Looks sweet so far, did you add a turbo on the 6.2 or was it NA?
the 6.2 conversion was NA and still is. This 6.5 has the stock turbo setup

You work fast - thanks for posting the pix.
thanks! Been trying to beat the weather before it gets too cold and snowy I hope to have it done by the end of November or beginning of December. Unfortunately no work will be done today on it :(

Nice!

NV4500 with stock transfer case?
