FJ40 FJ55 parts interchange (1 Viewer)

So I'll try this again. I have a '69 FJ40 & a recently purchased '72 FJ55. I'm wondering which 55 parts are interchangeable with the 40. If anyone knows of a list or what would work let me know please.

found out the EGR port on the header in a 40 is smaller then the EGR in a 55

Basically, the engine, transmission, transfer case, and axles are the same. I would guess that all the emissions are the same for any given year, but I would be curious to see if the header has the same part number, as per 91 4runner's note. John

Hi All:

Some 55 parts will work on a 40, but many will not.

For example, the water pump on '77 FJ55 is longer than the water pump on a '76 FJ40. It may be a similar issue with early 1970s FJ40s and 55s.

the headlights and the side marker lights are the same. same with front turn signal lenses.
