once welded, what if you decide you don't want to be anymore?  can the process be reversed?  what would have to be replaced and how much would it cost?
 
If you only weld the spider gears altogether (recommended method for cruisers) you can cut them out and keep your carrier intact. You just have to have new spider gears then.

But I don't think you will want to go back. I love my welded rear.
 
does anyone happen to have pictures of the rear diff with the cover off, so i can see where and how to weld it?
 
;) i welded both and i LOVE IT!you could get a different carrier and swap it in whenever you want.i traded my 3-speed for one.
