Im currently on a road trip from SoCal to BC, I have the common intermittent hesitation/stumbling problem. Wasn't there when I left but after San Louis Obispo it's in full effect and its driving me nuts. I am currently at a buddies in Arcata, CA but plan on resuming the drive north some time tomorrow. Any and all help appreciated thanks guys :beer:

Could be dirt in the float bowl intermittently plugging the main jet

could be other things too.

The surging/bucking can be any number of things but a lot of people have tied it to the EGR system. Using a golf tee, BB, or similar to plug your EGR valve to EGR vacuum modulator lines has solved the problem for some people, though it's really more of a quick and easy road fix than a permanent solution. Take a look at the pics in posts #34 and 35 in this link, and you'll see what I'm referring to:
