Sucks to have to pass, but I don't think you'll regret the decision in the long run. You'll know when its the right rig. Best of luck in your continued search!!

Keep in touch with the seller. He/She may just be phishing to see what they can get, but if they really want to sell, price will most likely drop.

Reality is you're gonna have to put $$ into that at some point for the engine, knuckles, etc ... and if you consider what $10K+ would buy you, the $7K price becomes more unrealistic.

Keep in mind, when you poll this forum on the value of any specific truck, you're going to get a wide range of opinions. Most of the guys on this board are highly skilled and have the resources to turn a $3500 rig, into a $10,000+ rig... With little investment, other than their time. Obviously those guys are not going to spend $7000+ on a truck that they can buy for half that price and then throw another $3k into it, and build it EXACTLY the way they want it.

So if you're great with a wrench and have the time to build out a 60/62... Then you should just look for something rust-free and spend no more than $5k tops. Then use this forum to source new and used parts to complete your build.

For the others, that want or need a built truck... Don't be afraid to spend over $7500 for a rig that needs little to no work. Base lining and regular maintenance aside, if you can find a nice truck with good service records that doesn't need a major overhaul for $7500, then do it. If you can find a pristine southwest truck that has already been restored or has low miles, some accessories and they're asking north of $10k, but it doesn't need anything more, pull the trigger and feel good. Especially if you're not a wrench turner.

The only thing that matters is if you're happy. You can't put a price on that. A Toyota that is well cared for will last you a lifetime and you may even end up passing it on to your kids. A few thousand dollars isn't going to make a difference in the end.

People have paid a lot more for a lot less truck than that. How many miles are on the H55 - and was it new when swapped in, or did the trans. already have 200K miles on it? That's a truck where a test drive could tell you a lot. The roof dents are a shame (bet there's a story behind those). So, maybe not a screaming deal, but not a disaster. As another person mentioned, the 'total cost' of the trans swap (if you like/want it) is much more than 2500. Thanks for posting this and asking the question - it's good to see what's out there.

Unless your a body man, I think those dents really lower the value considerably. Between the miles, the dents, and the fact they won't take less, I'd pass.
