I purchased this clean 89 FJ62 off a fellow member here on MUD. Body had rocker panel crease a poorly repaired rear hatch and the typical clear coat failure. Found a prestine rear hatch

Used TPC Global basecoat/Clearcoat stock gray . Used 3M Rock guard on rockers and front edge of hood, both color matched. Wet color sanded

looks great....couple questions:
did you just pick a calm day
have you sprayed before
what size compressor
thanks
thinking of doing the same thing just getting up the nerve

Picked a warm day, don't really have humidity here. I have a large compressor but get yourself a decent HVLP gun, check EBay for a used Sata with a 1.4 tip. Take your time, especially with the prep work you can't do enough sanding. I colored sanded, started with 1000 grit/ 1500/ 2000 and finished with 2500 used a lot of dish soap for lubrication. I've painted before, but it's not rocket science.
