I bought a 73 fj40 with a chevy small block 350 and three speed. This has the adapter on it already My question is can i replace it with my four speed tranny and transfer case(from my 77 fj40) will that swap right in without moving any thing or getting another adapter.
Thanks jay dufe

No, you will need a new adaptor. This can be as simple as a machined aluminum ring that bolts on to the 4sp bearing retainer (using allen head boltswhich you will need to grind slightly after tightening) and a 1/2 inch spacer under each of the tranny mounting ears. OTOH, an sm420 or sm465 will bolt right up to a GM bellhousing (420 and 465 use different ones), but you will need an adaptor for your transfer case.
