Well. Traveling hundreds of miles on an open truck in the winter will dirty her up quickly. After a nice wash, she was driven and tested. Some of the electrical was not working so I am going through all of that now. Got to start with the fundamentals. The rear passenger window glass fell off the track so I am remounting as well. I think I am going to do a full repaint and new interior. Paint looks decent but is not to the standard the truck is. I plan on doing a lighter gray and white. Interior will be redone in black with Dynamat and black carpet. Should quit things down a bit. Need to rebuild and wire the old school front winch. Aftermarket ac is a must and is on the list. Maybe a basket roof rack? Here she is with her friends. .

Update. Going in for full professional repaint. Truck is too nice and too rare not too. Questions for the group: any ideas where I can locate the window rubber / weatherstripping? Can't use the old stuff and am having trouble finding it. More to come. Thanks all.

Okay. Well, the first voyage. She made it three miles. Ran hot but made it. None of the gauges are working. Rebuilt the rear springs to help her sit level but then filled it with 40 gallons of gas and she still sags a bit in the rear (what old lady doesn't?). Added the "era correct" roof rack, shovel, axe and jack. Going in for a new fuel pump, aftermarket gauges, etc here next week. Then: off to paint and Powdercoating. Lastly, new weatherstripping and interior. Maybe ac. Will get all the attention she deserves. Will post pictures along the way.

Are you doing the mechanics yourself or a shop? Just curious.

I am not doing the mechanics or paint myself.
Latest: looking to change out the instrument cluster to something that looks original but more modern with a better look.

Also: will miss the flip up electronic reading but it has to go if the new cluster is going to do all it says it will.

Dropped her off at paint. Taking off all of the off road accessories and having everything Powdercoated. Bought 5 all new oem wheels. Doing a grey/blue and Beige color. Doing the wheels the same grey. Anyone know of a good vintage style roof rack? Something era correct?

Going to look good. :bounce: :bounce2:

Hello all!
Just a quick update on the LV. ToyoinCO and myself are collaborating on it's next incarnation and while he is a cruiser guy thru and thru, I am not, yet. I'm brand new to the forum as well but after reading the whole build thread I'm honored to carry the torch and get her finished up.

First images iare from Sept '16 at ToyoinCO's place. Over in the corner in primer in front of the green and white one, and then in front of the camo IH. (Please disregard my shameless showing off my El camino and my H-D. That's me muggin in the '34.)

Next pics are at my home shop, teaser pics really. More to come as the plan is outlined.

This should be fun!

A couple more pics. Plans are install Dakota digital gauges, an under dash a/c,Lokar shifter, and possibly a new wire harness for the chassis and a stand alone harness for the powertrain if available. The wiring in it looks adequate but it looks intimidating as well. Gumby, I'm sure you had some fun getting that together!

Any recommendations?

You might check Aussie sources for harnesses as they use the 1fz in swaps. Otherwise maybe look at going with FAST, Holley or megasquirt aftermarket systems and ditch the Toyota pcm. Lot more time in tuning, but the harness will be much simpler. If toyinco is paying labor it might be cheaper in the end to go that route. Depends how disassembled it was.
