Hi all, I was formerly on the FJ40 forums a couple of years ago and a major contributor but a lot has changed since then like moving back to the USA in 2013. Had to leave our cherished 74 FJ40 in the Philippines and in no way can afford the prices here Lol! Now a 97 K1500 owner and liking it except it appears to have the freeze plug, plugs leaking at the rear of the block between the tranny and block. Stop leak quick fix. Have others encountered this problem? I know the water in this region is hard and in some areas corrosive.

Best Regards,

Rob

nothing unique about the 5.7 vortec freeze plugs...compared with the other GM versions of the 5.7. Sometimes they have to be replaced but that's unusual. The worst issues I've seen is where people run pure water....and everything rusts...and the freeze plugs are toast, but that's not unique to a GM v8.
