My 2000 LC has 52K mi. on it. I am thinking about putting the TRD supercharger on it? I want the added hp and torque. Is my engine too old (too many miles) to slap that hunk on it? If not, anything in particular I should think about/consider before having it installed? Gas mileage is not an issue. If it were, I wouldn't have bought the damn thing to begin with.

I had heard that too, but our local store is still selling. I have one for the later model 02-04, that I bought with the intention of owning a 100 one day. If anyones looking , I guess I will sell it. I put 2600.00 in it. It looks new in the box, and will bolt on any year V8. I am told by TRD that ECU programming is different though it should be able to be changed.

Holy Smokes! - Pulled from the market? WTF? What was the problem? Weren't these things developed by TOTOTA RACING DEVELOPMENT?

I guess i'll hold off until I get more info - thanks for the heads up!

ALL SC's were pulled from the market by TRD. A store might still have some in stock but the fact they are selling them to the public is a very unethical behavior. From what I understand, TRD has not released any specific information re: the why's. But I would not buy one.

Apart from that, I have heard great things about the SC. There have been several write up on the subject. Try the search.

There is an in depth explanation about the problem they are having with the SC on Tundrasolutions.com, but trying to register JUST TO READ THE FRICKIN POSTS is like trying to break in Fort Knox.:( Maybe someone on here who is subscriber to that site can tell me what they say. I'd preciate it.

Not exactly accurate. TRD stopped sales on the V8 blowers but did not call back dealer stock. They stated that there was nothing wrong with the pieces already in dealer inventory.

No, not quite that simple. There is some sort of issue that needs to be sorted out. My guess is that it may pertain to emissions compliance after installation. As this is a factory-supported mod, as opposed to aftermarket, it can't be disclaimed.

I will chime in and put my 2 cents in.

I have a 1999 LC and I had around 55,000 miles on the truck when I had the s/c installed. I haven't had any problems with it at all and I have almost 90,000 miles on the truck now.

I actually got better got mileage on the truck with the s/c on because I don't have to put the pedal down as far as I used to, to move the truck. Now you give it a little gas and it moves. Driving at altitude isn't a problem and the truck really moves. From a dead stop the acceleration isn't as impressive as if you were rolling around 25 or so and punch it and it will throw you back against the seats. I usually don't romp on it until it gets out of first gear and anything over that is very impressive.

Even with 35 inch Super Swampers. :-)

As for the "non" sale of s/c, I was told by a friend who has a cousin and his best friends neighbor that leaves down the street that works at the dealer that it is emission related.

I installed the s/c on my 03 4runner V8 and have had nothing but JOY from it. Best mod I ever did. I would do it again but my 94 LC is to old with 160k miles.

Where would I be able to find a supercharger for a good price? And, do I need any kit to install it?

that was suppose to be a joke right? ;)

Biff, what did that S/C cost you out the door? What did it do for MPG? What do you feel it did to your 0-60 time, compared to a stock 4runner?

Out the door I paid $3650.

My mpg changed from 16mpg to 18mpg mostly because I hardly ever punch it.

An unofficial test (non track) I got 5.9 0-60, my buddy did an official test time on a track and got about the same and yes he has the track slip. No comparison to a stock runner completely changed the feel of the car, plus it runs like a monster :)
