Hi Everyone!!
After 3 days of camping in 105 degree weather, we decided to give our skin a break from the sun. We are staying in a resort in Loreto, Baja for a few days. Who knew that AC could feel so good!! We have internet here so we thought we would share some pics from our adventures.
Other than a little rock chip (see “oops” pic) and our camera drowning in the Bahia Concepcion, we have had a pretty uneventful trip. Thank you Jesus!!
We have seen some pretty amazing things, and will share more along the way!

Where you guys surfing at? nice clean rig btw.

More pix! Thanks for the update....

We surfed Las Gaviatos and once we leave here, we are going to Scorpion Bay for a couple days. We are both newbies...

Thanks for the compliment.

Dan

Loreto is a very nice place, got married at what was then the only resort there back in 2001.
One of the best steaks i've ever had was at a restaurant in town ( I forget the name), along with some GIANT shrimp cocktails..mmMMmm.

Oh, and dont go golfing at high noon, while hung over from a tequila binge the night before. That sun is freakin hot!

That would be a great road trip to drive a 'cruiser back down there and relax.

Nice rig.
Must have been a big rock.
What kind of wheels are those?

It was a big rock. It got kicked up by a passing semi on Hwy 1. It startled us.

The wheels are FJCruiser alloys.

Thanks,
Dan

Well, the previous owner had them mounted before I bought the truck. He had ground a little off the drag link end to improve the turning radius. I am running the FJ Cruiser Lug nuts and 1/4" spacers and using the steering stops to eliminate any rubbing. They increased my turning circle a little, but it is livable. Overall, I am really happy! The tires are 285-70-17s BFG MTs.

Enjoy,
Dan

Thats quite a task to get the wheels to fit. And may come out more than just wheels that fit. I think I will just get some with the correct backspacing, when the time comes. Thanks you for your help.

You'll love Scorpion Bay, I've been going for years- third can be a world-class wave when it's on. the place is a little fickle, but hanging out is well worth the trip anyways...

If you run into Yves (sounds like "eee-vee") Meza, say hi for me, he's a local fisher in San Juanico- he comes out to the point a lot in a black toyota p/u.

also, if there's no waves, head northerly up the coast to the sand dunes from the camp ground- just ask around and they can tell you how to get there, sometimes some decent surf up that way and some fun fishing/catching if there's any fish caught in the pools at low tide.

also, also :D, further south is a surf camp at el Conejo that has AMAZING beach-combing potential, the camp is set in a sea-fig mangrove, so it feels like it's a pirate hide-out.

have a blast!

Looks like you all are having the best time, now more pics of your wife and less of you:) Enjoy every minute of it and keep us updated

Thought you all would enjoy some more pictures.

We had an amazing trip to Coronado Island in the inflatable on Wed. for some snorkeling and sight-seeing. We were hoping for some dolphins, but struck out. We did however have a fantastic dinner at La Picazon, a resturant on the beach on the coast over looking Coronado. It was a great view with fantastic food! Thanks to Alejandro and Imelda for hosting us after a long day in the sun.

Thursday and Friday were spent with the crew from Dolphin Dive in Loreto. We had a great experience and they receive our highest recommendation. In addition to the diving we saw common and bottle-nose dolphins and pilot whales! It really was a great way to spend the days here in Loreto! Thanks to Bruce and Rafael.

Tomorrow we are headed over the Sierras to San Juanico.. Should be a fun drive.

Enjoy the pics,
Dan

If you get a chance don't miss out surfing at Punta Conejo (light house). It is a classic point break. Some people call it NOCNIR because it is like a backwards RINCON. Watch out on a low tide the shallows are filled with urchins.

Dynosoar :zilla:

Hope your drive over the mountains was fun, if it's the one near Mulege... I've done that one a few times and "interesting" is a good word for it. Hard to figure out where you are w/o GPS and ever-changing routes/conditions.

nice pics.

Oh, and if you're heading "home" after San Juanico, do yourself the immense favor of taking the "north" road out and stopping for an afternoon in San Ignacio.

We came in the east road over the mountains from Loreto to San Juanico. It was pretty rough, but no problem for the Cruiser.

We are heading south tomorrow.
