Nice thread. Where do you put your 285 spare?

Thanks. What spare :) I don't have one at the moment. Just a tire repair kit. The options I have for the spare is on the roof rack, build a swing out rear holder or air down a tire and squeeze it in under stock spare location.

I ran a 285 in stock location air'ed down for a while, it worked fine. I have C02 to make it easier if I had to use it. Peace of mind for sure.

Awesome vision-implementation-fun cycle!

Yeah, the confusion about the drawing was the rear looking the same as the front, even though the front is going to have the winch mount location.

I visited Stockholm a few years ago was one of our favorite places in our 3 week trip around Europe.

Looking forward to seeing more! btw, someone on the 100 forum is doing lights underneath using the existing step light power/sockets - you might be able to leverage parts or ideas from that.

placed order for steel....

Ok I just placed a hugh order of steel. 140 feet of tubing and 13x22 square feet of sheet metal  Holy crap the prices of steel is expensive here in the states. Swedish quality steel is a whoooole lot cheaper back home.

Anyways, its on its way so I should be able to start building next week.

Your living on the edge! :)

Yeah I'll probably start with squeezing one in there for now.

The rear of the bumper will open all the way to the radiator. But the pictures above are just ruff drafts.

Stockholm is beautiful. They call it the Venice of the north because of the city being built on so many different islands. Im from Gothenburg (Little London) on the west coast which is even better ;)

Yeah I saved the wiring for the old step in lights. Im going to mount some rock lights so they might come in handy. Thanks for the tip I'll see if I can find that post.

nice build!

We are getting close to the right number of trucks being built in the SE for a GX470 Starbucks run :)

Sounds great! When and where are you planning to go?

I am trying to make an electrical schematic over all the accessories that will be hooked up to the truck. I'll share it once its done. But one thing is very unclear for me. I'm going to mount an Engo E10000 winch to the front of the truck. And i want to be able to use a rocker switch in the instrument panel to turn power on/off to the winch. Anyone have a good idea on how to wire that? I can't use a relay or wire straight to the switch since the winch would burn it. Can I use like a 500amp single way solenoid or something?

Tried to search the forum and google but didn't find any good answers.

Electrical schematics

Ok I think I figured out the answer to my question above. Find a powerful SPST solenoid and use that as a circuit breaker. Not sure if that is what is normaly done.

Anyways below is the first draft of the electrical system that I will be routing. I have already done some if the routing (fridge) but most of it is open for changes so if you have any feedback on it please share. And I am still not sure on the battery management system yet. At first I was planning on building my own but I really like the thought of having a set and forget system. So right now I am leaning towards the Blue Sea Automatic charging relay with a rocker switch mounted to the IP.

I will probably mount my compressor under the hood as well and mount an ON/OFF switch in the intrument panel for it at a later stage. I just wasent able to fit it in my schematics at the moment :p

I noticed the picture is a little small and it might be hard to see the small text but you should at least be able to see the wiring.

My Iron Man winch has a kill switch in the engine bay with a key. No key, no power. Works well.

I looked at getting a simple kill switch like that. But I would like to not need to pop the hood to use the winch. And also I have already bougth the rocker switch for the winch :)

Can't you do a heavy duty relay with a smaller gauge wire to the switch? I suspect that is what you found?

The problem is that a winch can max out on a looooots of amp. Few relays if any will handle that. So what I found was a solenoid that can handle 750amps. So will have the current go thru it and control it with a rocker switch on the IP.

The winch solenoid box IS the relay...the wires to the handheld controller are not much...simply hard wire inside the solenoid box.

Aha ok, then I have to check the wiring once I get the winch.

I got some switches that I ordered from E-bay this weekend and mounted them to the center console last night. Im pretty happy with the results. I will start wiring them up this week.

Also the steel I ordered suppose to arrive early this week so should be able to start working on the armor soon as well.

Your switch panel turned out very nice!

Sore fingers from wiring....

Your switch panel turned out very nice!

Thanks!

So I did all the wiring today as well. There was a lot of wiring to hook up 6 of these switches. 2 of them (LED light bar and Spot lights) should only be triggered if the headlights where on. 3 of them (reverese lights, fog lights and winch) only triggered when ignition was on on and 1 of them (AUX Battery) working when ever.

All the load wires are plugged up to terminals waiting to be hooked up to relays. I'll wait to plug does in untill I get my lights/parts.

I did all the wiring. Tested and measured everything. The whole thing worked fine. I put all the panels back and went back to try everything one last time.

Some of them worked fine but LED only worked if Winch and AUX was active. AUX was on constantly when the headlights where on. So something got squeezed when I put the panel back. Oh well, Its only a few panels and "5 screws positioned by the devil" (they are impossible to get to) to remove the panel again.

I dont think I'll burn the car down so I'll do that tomorrow.

Here is what it looks like.

A few wires....

LEDs are controlled by the dash light. None of the switches active.
