Hey guys - I got a call from Craft Customs that my wheel is ready to pickup. I'll go grab it this week and will hopefully (fingers crossed) be able to swap them out within a week, shipping off the loaner wheel to the next guy.
Also - a note on craft customs. I honestly don't think the price is...
As I've been tracking down some hard to find NOS parts for my 62, I'm having trouble discerning between some of the part numbers and was hoping the collective here could assist.
For example, the out of production grill for the FJ62 has the following part numbers:
53111-90A05
53111-90A08 (based...
It should if you can find the right part. The resistor that he ordered is the same one I got from rockauto. it is specific to the LX450 and 40th anniversary edition and it was out of stock for a long time.
Feels like this is something that should be more prominent in FAQ.
For example, this is something I KIND OF knew, but not until this thread has it clicked, and I’ve been working on cruisers for 12ish years…
Also of note: I am not a smart man.
Honestly, you’re probably better off buying old ones with bad chrome and painting them. It’s be much more cost efficient. I’ll sell you my passenger side one. 🤷♂️ My driver side is broken.
It’s really not that bad. The patience is required to remove the clip from the wires to be able to feed them through the base, and for getting the thread locked screws out.
Note: it’s best to use JIS screwdriver in order to take the screws out. You run a high likelihood of stripping a screw if...
I did not. Used a standard Phillips with a lot of force. My neighbor (who love challenges like this) literally just got the stripped screw out.
Adding JIS set to my kit right now.
Update and success!
The chrome surrounds and electric motors are identical between the 70 series and the 62. The only difference is the base, but I can now confirm that you can swap the bases from your 62 onto the 70 series mirrors.
The tools required are a properly sized (this is very...
Put new 70 series mirrors on the fj62 bases. Mostly plug and play but damn the screws holding the chrome on the 70 series base are soft!!! Still working to extract a stripped one from the passenger side but driver side is perfecto!!!
