Builds Mitsubishi 4D34-3AT3B diesel swap into 94 FZJ80

So, no luck on finding any studs that would work (ARP doesn't appear to have a dimensional data book available on their site, they do but only for smaller bolts). McMaster Carr does sell M14X2.0 socket head cap screws with 12.9 rating, which would be an upgrade over the stock bolts. That said...

FourbyPoor - The compounds were done by SuperHatch, I believe he had stock head bolts. I am trying to cross the head bolts to ARP for my truck, I will post here. The dimensions I got are: - 183mm length for the long bolts (bolt shank length, not including bolt head, studs would need to be...

Pacer, do you run an intercooler on your setup? Have you turned up the fuel and what kind of boost are you running? Just curious.

I don't think you gain much from a hydraulic A442F versus an stock A440F. Pacer's swap is pretty bulletproof and you can't get much simpler than that. An AW450 has some advantages but it's a lot of messing around - It requires you to disassemble the trans nearly completely, and make spacers etc...

Builds Mitsubishi 4D34-3AT3B diesel swap into 94 FZJ80

It's a trick question because the mechanical trucks have the Jatco trans, not the AW450 one. I think finding an older Fuso truck (pre-1999 ish) and sticking the engine onto an A440F is a great option, but you would still need access to some AW450 parts (bellhousing, flexplate and torque...

    Builds Isuzu 4HE1TC into FJ62

Yet another question! Do any of you know if the 4HE1 engines use a solid input gear (no timing advance mechanism built-in)? It looks like most of the 4HE1 engines use an injection system called Zexel MITICS. It is a semi mechanical version of the MD-TICS system on the Fusos. There is a 12V...

Hi all, just a quick update on this - I am looking into using an Isuzu 4HE1 pump as a donor for the mechanical governor and some other parts, to build a hotrod pump for my 4D3. It looks really promising, but I would really benefit from better understanding the 4HE1's control system. Some of the...

Another cool thing I learned is the 4D34 is being built under license by Hyundai/Kia as the D4D: http://www.hyundaiengine.com/auto_diesel/09_d4da.html There are dozens of different fuel injection setups worldwide for the 4D3 engine - I have seen some with Zexel and Denso inline pumps both TICS...

If any of you guys come across an injection pump and/or engine computer from a 4HE1, please let me know. I'm thinking about going mechanical on my swap to boost it for more power - I think the 4HE1 pump could be made to fit on the 4D3.

Question for all you guys. I'm thinking of putting a mechanical pump in this, either a Bosch A based pump, or even a P7100. Would like to turn the fuel up and cracking the ECU is not something I've been able to figure out. The only AW450-43LE application that runs a mechanical pump is the 4HE1...

I never messed with cruise... I do remember looking at the OEM cruise system and there was a lot of wires from the cruise ECU to the engine ECU - I think it might not be easy to set it up.

    4D34 variations 1AT3 - 3AT3B

Sorry - I meant the injectors and everything else form the newer engine, with the old pump.

    4D34 variations 1AT3 - 3AT3B

I am not 100% certain but it will be close. The only thing that worries me is the cyl head and pistons might be different, there was a change in injector nozzle angle and piston design. I would use the fuel pump from your engine, and use the injectors and everything else from the 1992. It should...

I have one too. 94 FZJ80 with 2001 (electronic) 4D34T engine and AW450 trans. Probably 60K miles since the swap. If I were to do it again, I would go A440F and 4D34 with the mechanical pump engine (pre 1998). So much less work and more power potential. The trans isn't as good, but I think the...

    Diesel timing light adapter

I messaged you. I have one. You would need a timing light.

What do I need to swap a Isuzu 4bd1/2t with Aw 450 trans into 80 Series.

The AW was only ever used on the later model Isuzu engines. I don't know if they share the same flywheel and bellhousing setup as the 4BD engines. AW450 also needs a computer to control, not sure how you would run that with a completely mechanical engine. This is uncharted territory, no adapters...

    Mitsubishi Turbo Diesels

IS your throttle pedal electronic or a cable? If it's a cable it is easy to get more power but you should add a pyrometer before you mess with it so you don't melt your engine.

Pacer, you can spill time your engine to figure out the timing. The pre-stroke actuator changes the point of injection and the duration. Since there is no mechanical advance on these pumps (electronic) you can time it like a P7100, which has static timing. If you spill timed it around 15-16 I...

I'm no expert but that's what I was able to figure out. The part numbering is the same as bosch nozzles. DLLA is the type of nozzle tip (DLLA is a sac type nozzle as opposed to DSLA which is a pintle tip), 155 is the spray angle, PN is the nozzle type, and the rest is a unique identifier. I...

When I was looking into injector tips, there seemed to be a few different spray angles for these engines. Mine uses a DLLA146PN122, which is 146 degrees. Other applications used up to a 158 degree if I remember correctly. If you were using injectors with the wrong spray angle it would smoke a...
