I agree. I know the performance cams sound more like 262 or 270 duration. My question I guess is am I even close to stock? Don't see stock camshaft specs in that thread.

i think the life of canvas depends on a lot. but if that mil-spec canvas was in decent condition, was $50 and at least 36" wide, you could get started on your own for sure.
if it's treated, a heavy duck canvas and large enough, why not?!
might want to consider it's age, price and compare it to what you could purchase brand new (without any existing stitching or grommets)
