Need help diagnosing cause of P0306 - Misfire on #6

There were a lot of good guesses and directions to look; thank you all! I got my borescope to work finally and found the injector wires had been chewed through. Got a couple "repair wires" from the dealer and spliced them in with self-soldering/sealing butt connectors and all is right with the...

Need help diagnosing cause of P0306 - Misfire on #6

I have a 2012 FJ(ATM 4x4) with 85k miles. I have owned this vehicle since new and all the maintenance for the first 4 years/60k miles was done at a local dealer in Ann Arbor, MI. After that point I did my own maintenance, regularly checking things to be sure there were no issues. So far, other...

    Alloy wheel restoration

@cheezypoof here is the deal: In production, the wheel is cast, heat treated, machined, painted, face-machined and clear-coated. To get good adhesion for new paint, you'll need to take it all back down to bare metal to remove any contaminants from oxides, etc. For re-coating, unless you have...

    Alloy wheel restoration

If you want powder coating, look up Rad Coatings on Facebook. They will blast and paint and are somewhat local and very easy to work with. Not the cleanest or most professional shop, but capable. Otherwise, I'd find someone to blast them clean(I'm sure Rad coatings could do that or even a body...

Broken Emblem on Hatch, looking for creative solutions

Somebody on here used to sell vinyl decals that were basically the same and didn't cost too much. Or you could get someone to make you a decal of whatever you want?

    Driveshaft bolts orientation

It doesnt really matter as long as the washer/"spacer" is under the part you are turning. @baldilocks is correct in regards to the factory assembly process. Just be sure to check them when you check the steering arm studs.

    2019 Cruiser Carousal - June 29, 2019

I'll probably need a reminder. I have a project at work that should just be wrapping up by then, hopefully all goes well.

    Power Steering Feel | 80 versus 100

Something is wrong. You shouldn't really need 2 hands to turn the wheel unless you have some crazy tires weird offset wheels or bad bad trunion bearings. It isn't light like the 100, but the design targets for driver inputs should basically be the same or close. It could be a worn out pump or...

    Mechanic Says Blown Motor

You would be surprised at the places you can go with an AWD RAV4 or a Subaru. Like is mentioned above, if the engine were blown, it wouldn't even start and/or there would be a pool of oil under the vehicle. You likely have a head-gasket issue if it has never been replaced. there are several...

    Mechanic Says Blown Motor

given the distance and gas mileage, you might consider renting a vehicle for your trip. It would be more dependable, less worry and the cost of gas may offset the rental cost.

    Undercarriage Cake

Good idea. Even add some oil if you want. Clean it when you have to take it apart. Get a pump sprayer to help spray the simple green or purple power. Then use a sprinkler or a garden hose.

Timing for new rotor, cap and wires?

Yeah, no need for timing the engine. Of course it wouldn't hurt, but it should be fine.

    How does my spindle look

Not good, holmes. That spalling in the bearing is definitely a bad sign too. Could just be a bad bearing, but more likely is they arent seating properly. Get a new one from cruiserparts. He has the joint fuji parts at a good price.

    Monstaliner Bedliner

if you will be using monsta liner, you might be able to remove a lot of that clear coat with just a metal putty knife. It would ssve a lot of sand paper.

Deep inside the bellhousing of an A440...

You should pull the trans with the engine. During its first assembly in the plant, the engine would be mated to the transmission and transfer case in a separate area before being installed into the vehicle. Yes, it is a LOT of metal to move with a LOT of gravity present, but it will be a lot...

    Rear control arm bushings

Get the OEM bushings and don't replace them every year... what does your truck look like that you are eating bushings? When you install new ones, make sure the truck is on the ground in its resting position before torquing the bolts.

    Scrapedknuckled rant.

Yeah, man, it definitely takes a pep-talk once in a while. There definitely are some things which will be a total pain in the ass. However, if you are having some difficulty, step back for a few and think how it might be easier. If there doesnt seem to be an easier way, and it isnt in the...

    Rear lower control arm bolts

Turn the part with the washer under it. It should only take a wrench or impact gun on one side(the side with the washer) to break it loose. The other side has teeth to keep it from getting loose, ever.

    Scrapedknuckled rant.

It shouldn't have taken hours. But i have an idea why it did. I have a '92. The first time i had to eff with the belts to change the alternator, it was terrible. Then i learned how to access the tensioner bolts from the wheel-wells and how to thread the belts through/around the fan. Then it...
