Hey Rob, I'm sorry I missed this. I just now got re registered on mud, I haven't been able to log on for a long time. I'll keep on here now that I'm able to.
Thanks, the 45 idea is cool. My friend who helped on this did a tube bed on a 45 project that looks like a 40 or 45 rear and is skinning it. Looks great IMO.
Another small update, I massaged the rear doors a little and painted and installed them. I’ve started a new job right before the pandemic hit and don’t have much time off right now, weird times.
Not a huge update, but I got a deal on some 37/12.50/17 MTR’s and pacer wheels. I took it out on the road, it’s like a different truck with these “street” tires. Smooth and easy even at 60+.
I would keep the 350 NV4500 if it were me. Manuals are more fun in a driver, occasional wheeler. You have a race truck with a serious LS drivetrain, there’s something about an old school SBC that feels good at lower RPM’s in a more mild vehicle. Plus it’s already in there!
The truck is still at my Son’s house in Louisiana, he’s moving back to Virginia this summer, so it won’t be in my hands until then. I’ll let you know the progress, I may go get it sooner if it works out.
