Builds 1972 FJ40 stretch and refresh

Thanks! I had it out a few times this past summer and fall, I haven’t been able to log into mud until recently, I’ll update here and there.

    The black box

I have a blackbox and NP205 on my stretched 40. I am very happy with it.

Club wheeling and tech trip April 8th, 2023

Hey Rob, I'm sorry I missed this. I just now got re registered on mud, I haven't been able to log on for a long time. I'll keep on here now that I'm able to.

I’m thinking I might let this truck go, I already have a great wheeler/crawler and a more daily driver type truck would suit me more.

Thanks, the 45 idea is cool. My friend who helped on this did a tube bed on a 45 project that looks like a 40 or 45 rear and is skinning it. Looks great IMO.

    Stretched FJ 40 on 40's

Loved your build on the other forum, mine ended up taking a fair amount of inspiration from it.

Another small update, I massaged the rear doors a little and painted and installed them. I’ve started a new job right before the pandemic hit and don’t have much time off right now, weird times.

Beautiful stuff. I’ve held off on ordering until I get the truck to my house, I’ve been tweaking my 40 lately. Hopefully I won’t regret it.

Not a huge update, but I got a deal on some 37/12.50/17 MTR’s and pacer wheels. I took it out on the road, it’s like a different truck with these “street” tires. Smooth and easy even at 60+.

Builds “It’s only a motor swap and an axle swap” FJ55, 2UZ, 5 speed, 80 axle build

That is a great recipe, that truck will be so cool and capable when you’re done. Hehe, “done”.

I would keep the 350 NV4500 if it were me. Manuals are more fun in a driver, occasional wheeler. You have a race truck with a serious LS drivetrain, there’s something about an old school SBC that feels good at lower RPM’s in a more mild vehicle. Plus it’s already in there!

Wow, thank you. I may order one this weekend.

The truck is still at my Son’s house in Louisiana, he’s moving back to Virginia this summer, so it won’t be in my hands until then. I’ll let you know the progress, I may go get it sooner if it works out.

Thanks. I really like the extra room and stability. And the room for the drivetrain, obviously.

    1985 4runner wheel question

Wrong offset, you would need spacers.

Wow, that is a unique and cheap solution. Well done.

I can get it for $230

Hmmm. Do you think I can cover up blue to tan? Might be worth it.
