is this LX450 a good buy

Yep, you're right on point. Had mine done at the dealer in December @ around 234k miles....$2,250 or thereabouts, although I DID have him repace every hose at the same time, as well as belts, plugs, cap, etc....

TRD Cold Air Intake - 2010 4R Trail

I'll post one up in the next day or two with the cover off......not much to look at though. At any rate, after about three weeks, the CAI feels good mid-range. I think I'm actually noticing a 1-1.5 DECREASE in MPG, though. I also do not notice the 'whistle' others have mentioned..... I...

TRD Cold Air Intake - 2010 4R Trail

Didn't see a thread on this one, but I might have missed it. If so, I apologize. After purchasing a 4R Trail (2010), it was just a matter of time before I started the mods, referencing the old '96 LX. First two mods were (1) Shrockworks sliders, and (2) the TRD Cold Air, started / finished...

cibie oscar lights - yes or no?

Nothing like a REAL late post reply, huh? Anyway, I LOVE Cibie'...owned / used them since 1972, and currently have Oscar SCs on my LX. ALso have a vintage set of Cibie 145 series on there, and use a Series 35 as rear backups. I like Cibie' a lot... I also like dealing with Daniel...

    Advice from all y'all

Thanks for the couple of replies, guys.....'ll check that site for an engine, since (a) I have limited wrenching skill and time, and since (b) cheapest motor (short block) I could find was $4200..... Still debating...

    Advice from all y'all

OK...I;ll just give the facts, and ask for opinions, since I value yours: Lx450, 253k miles, blew the head gasket (finally). No engine work done since purchase, and I bought a 4runner trail edition a couple of weeks ago, so at least I am driving. Question is this: Since I do NOT want to...

    It finally happened

Well....after 253k, a bunch of white smoke from the tailpipe on I-10, fortunately real close to the Toyota dealer, and the LX450 apparently needs a head gasket. At this point, I'm looking for some recommendations from some of y'all that have faced this delimma: to rebuild a '96, or NOT to...

    T-stat replacement

OK...1st replacement of my thermostat after 240k miles or so, and I want y'all to verify something: Local dealership parts guy suggested to cut of the little movable 'pin' on the stat before installing it. True, or false? I recall doing this on a GM product (but I don't remember why), and...
