    Canvas Seat Covers

This won't help you much as they are made here in Kenya, but perhaps useful for inspiration at least :-) https://forum.ih8mud.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=617952&stc=1&d=1333545898 https://forum.ih8mud.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=617953&stc=1&d=1333545898...

Look at my Timing Belt after 100K

My Japanese-spec UZJ100 is specced for 100,000 kilometres, it seems they lowered the interval for Jap-spec models as most other places seem to be specced for 150,000km/100,000miles, I have no idea why....

    Front Differential Fluild Change

After what kind of mileage does one need to think about he front and rear diff fluid? Mine's done 130,000km (80,000 miles)....

Bringing in a 100 from Japan

Toyota makes a bewildering variety of global specs on this machne. My 2004 JDM 100-series has no rear or front locker unfortunately, but has an LSD at the back, and a Centre-Diff lock. The CDL is button operated and can be used in high or low range. I believe (from reading, not personal...

Sorry, just wondering, what's the "pumpkin"?

    99 + ARB + Deer + 75mph

Out of interest... I see some bumpers say "airbag compatible". Given the nature of the sensor and it being based on deceleration off the whole vehicle, how would a non-compatible bumper actually negatively affect airbag deployment?

    Lighting upgrade for oncoming traffic

Did you do the high-beam HIRs too, are you saying there was not much difference there? But the low-beams were worth it? How easy was it to trim the plastic tab people talk about and install them? I've seen some pics of people who've added LED bars to a stock bumper in front of the grill but...

    Lighting upgrade for oncoming traffic

Hi, Looking to upgrade my lighting on my stock 100 series (no bullbar or roof rack yet). My priority isn't for long distance offroad use but for lighting up the road in front of me when facing oncoming vehicles. As far as high-beam on an empty road goes, I'm OK. Here in Kenya most roads don't...

How bad would this screw up the 100?

I'm in a similar situation. Currently have 275/65/R17 and thinking of moving to 275/70/R17, but not wanting to buy a 5th new tire. I believe this would be an increase in tyre diameter of 1.6". Regarding the ABS issue, how can one tell if this would be a problem or not (without buying new tires...

largest tires on non-lifted 100 series

I've searched but seems most everyone has 16 or 18" rims. Can anyone tell me the largest size tire I can fit to a 2004 stock 100-series (Japanese spec) with 17" rims? Thanks

looking for a bolt on rear recovery point

That link doesn't work for me. Do you mean this? http://www.expeditionexchange.com/cart/product.php?productid=18656&cat=268&page=1 If so do the holes match up with the factory holes in the chassis in a 100 series? Just wondering.

Recovery points, tow-straps, bridles, newbie questions

Yes I have one of those on the drivers-front side (see pic attached). So those are worse than the rear ones then? How bad exactly? Do you think if I have two and bridle them I should be OK for a pull not snatch recovery? Why on earth would anyone build a heavy 4x4 with weak recovery points? It...

    LC100 4.7 v8 Servicing / Oil

Just to report... I did all the things mentioned, no ATF flush, and used the 5W40 oil. The spark plugs weren't too bad but some were showing some wear and evidence of sparking through the insulator and not via the electrode tip so replaced them all. The cruiser is running really nice now, and...

Recovery points, tow-straps, bridles, newbie questions

Mark, that's all very helpful, thank you. So basically I should get the extra factory hooks (I don't have tow bar), a 30 ft/10 meter recovery strap, and a 20ft/6 meter bridle and that should cover me. If I'm using the factory hooks I won't need a shackle, but maybe good to have in case the other...

Recovery points, tow-straps, bridles, newbie questions

Thanks for taking the time to reply, much appreciated.. Interesting, I was wondering about that. So are you saying that if I use a kinetic recovery/snatch strap but take it very slowly i.e. only starting to pull from an already taught strap, rather than getting momentum up on the pulling...

Recovery points, tow-straps, bridles, newbie questions

Hi, I swear I must have read every thread on recovery on the internet now, and still I'm confused. I have an all-stock 2004 LC100 4.7L v8 - no front or rear bars, and no winch. I don't do much offroad and nothing very hardcore but I do go on safaris (I live in Kenya) where it gets fairly...

    LC100 4.7 v8 Servicing / Oil

It's a source of great confusion for me, my JDM-spec cruiser seems to be different but I can't for the life of me work out why. Have a look at this previous thread of mine: https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/603896-uzj100-timing-belt-change-interval-japanese-spec.html

    LC100 4.7 v8 Servicing / Oil

Hmm.. Now you've got me worried, just bought 2 x 5L of the stuff ready for the service. I don't have much choice here. I could probably find a 5W30 if I looked hard but it would be a much inferior brand, I figured the 40 wouldnt be that far off and better to have a better quality oil, but maybe...

    LC100 4.7 v8 Servicing / Oil

My paper manual is in Japanese. I think there's some sticker under hood that may say 5W30. I was under the impression that 5W40 would be compatible, just with an increased upper temperature range (40 vs 30). Which would be better given that it can get fairly hot here. Is that not correct? Don't...

    Got stuck!

I had similar with my 100-series (all stock). Made me realise that 4wd tech, LSDs, Diff-locks, etc is based on at least one wheel having traction. When all are spinning in mud with no traction on any wheel you're xxx. In my case the mud was almost up to the top of the rear wheel, spare wheel and...
