My electric locker wont disengage.
Right now the vehicle just get's used off pavement.
Am I likely to damage the diff by going on pavement?
Trouble shooting tips?
This is an interesting product. Seems; simple, cheap and effective.
Batteryless Bicycle bike safety LEDs lights, A non friction bicycle dynamo, generator, No battery, No friction, science DIY kit, invention, green product.
Thanks for the info,
I've got stock 4.88s so getting assembled 3rd members will be the likely way I'll go.
Also right now I'm having problems getting the electric locker to work reliably. I suppose switching out the electric locker for an ARB will the best option.
The original purpose for this...
This stuff is good for float-planes.
It works fine on cruisers too.
ACF-50
Buy it from aviation supply houses.
Just hose it in every couple of years and fogetaboutit.
No need to get anal and obssessive about rust.
Diesel fuel works too but only last about 30 days.
You can do a perfectly functional SOA without the added expenses of cut-and-turn, shackle reversal and a DC drive-shaft.
Which leaves more money for things like lockers, a winch, an air-tank, spare birfields and gasoline.:)
I'm checking on the gears.
Unfortunately I'm not running a Toyota engine/trans/tranfercase.:(
The rest of the running gear is from a late model Trooper with a 3.1L 4JB2 engine and 5spd.
And it's a waste of money.
If you want your cruiser to handle like a car then buy a Corolla.
If you want your cruiser to handle the trail better buy a locker and do a SOA.
It's really a shame how Toyota dropped the ball with the FJC. They could have easily offered a simple utilitarian vehicle instead of more stylish plastic.
You will love the 40.
I cant even look at an FJC without thinking how silly it is. (fortunately I've only seen one so far here)
Panama.
google and a few threads here pop up. Several dealers around the USA.
Seem kind of pricey.
I like the Aqualu tub which probably a bit lighter weight.
Agreed lots of potential there.
I'm not sure about the goofy looking shackle reversal.
A little clean up and a thorough corrosion treatment with something like ACF-50 should fix you up. You probably want to spray a bunch of the stuff into the boxed areas of the frame.
Get her all fixed up then...
The last 4-5 years of the production run saw more rust issues. The steel was a poorer quality.
Pre 1974 models had the best most rust resistant steel. Next the 1974-early 78 were the next best.
Take that in consideration as you shop around.
People ask more for the newer ones but they aren't...
I assume you're doing a SOA.
Using the softer stock springs you'll be getting about a 6" lift. Plenty for 35" tires.
Flipping the springs will improve the stability of the rig making the "cut and turn" unnecessary.
If you don't have a heavy foot axle-wrap wont be an issue either.
Lengthening the...
