I used something readily available down undah which is the 70 series OE uni. The larger end of the uni is the correct diameter for the 40 shaft and smaller end correct for the 80 shaft (I believe). They used to be $20 apiece but these days they’re around $80 AUD. Amayama should stock them as well.
One last thing. The Museum has a library. I could have spent a week in there. Before closing I managed to get snaps of a kind of a Japanese periodical from many years ago with some local owners and their 4WD's. It was all in Japanese so all I could recognise were numbers, but here it is.
I was recently in the aforementioned and thought I'd take some pics for anyone interested. I'm not sure on the completeness/originality of it due to some minor issues such as the pointed bib lenses but it is what it is. It does feel like an older restoration. Happy scrolling.
WTB 1964[?] - 1971 FJ40/45 ignition barrel and key in Sydney, Australia. This is the type located in the dash. I have my barrel but no key and cannot find a locksmith to cut a new one. Happy to pay for overseas shipping.
As per attached pic.
Hey @nzlandcruiser, nice truck.
The 1972 - 1974 model years in saw a lot of changes. In the Aus/NZ markets they were most notably: 3 speed > 4 speed. Two-piece doors to single-piece doors. Single lens indicators > dual lens. F engine > F.5 engine. Single circuit brakes > dual circuit...
That's crazy you have a RHD 45V in the States! I think he has sourced everything NOS except the floor bezel. Is yours an original part and are you willing to part with it?
My buddy Ray's shop is restoring a 45V for a client and is chasing a few parts. I'll update this with parts requests as he progresses on the build. I believe it's a '67, build month TBA. Today's parts requests are:
1. Original accelerator pedal assembly including pedal, lower hinge bracket and...
At home in the 'ruggedest' conditions. This is definitely written by an Aussie!
I'd be interested to know what year this brochure is from with the SF anf FF rear axle options. AFAIK there wasn't a choice and was dictated by build date, with the changeover on 01/1975 with the one-piece doors...
Agree flx's addition that HJ45's began late in 1972, though in Australia it was sometime in 1973 as per our parts records - though they are conflicting. The B engine was offered at the same time. In both cases the take up [both literally and in a sales sense] was slow.
All early RHD 45 long beds were designated FJ45P. My 1970 is as so. Unsure year change but note the designation on the HJ47 plate below vs. my 1970 FJ45 plate.
Troopies were not Vans, although 7x series regained the V designation for some reason. HZJ75RV - RHD Van case in point.
